OK my husband is working at a job site who also has union members working there as well. They are trying to get my husband his coworkers and his employer to join the union.Which they have already refused to do. They harass them trying to convince them to join. Just last week they were handing out peices of papers with my boyfriends pic and 8 other coworkers faces on it.They drew a pic of a rat on my husbands sgirt and wrote scab across his forehead. Some he wrote mexico on their foreheads. Is this legal? Should we sue them for this or do we not really have a case?

I am sorry but i really dont think you have much of a case considering that the paparazzi do it every day. if you did have a case i just think it would probably be more work than it is worth.

Pretty common union practices, same thing that has been happening for ages. All the police would do is tell you that if no one has been hurt they aren't interested. Sounds like most of the workers are union which means the union controls the worksite and unless the company owners want to force a non-union workplace they won't get involved. If it is a strong union town, the owners will not push their luck because they may not be able to get enough workers to stay in business if they do. IF anyone on the flyers gets harmed and you can prove who is responsible for the flyers, you could have an instigation case. --- If your husband is defending a bunch of illegals against hard working citizens trying to make a living wage against a bunch of lying welfare suckers maybe he needs to change his associations.

I think you would but i knwo they are going about it the wrong way but unions are really GReat they give more money and better benifits and your bf/husband can not get fired for no reason I wish we had unions where i am living i live in SC where its a right to work state and they treat there employees like **** and when one triys to get a union here they get fired for being so called trouble maker. NO ONE Gets what they need no raises no nothing they bosses say they should be glad they have job. Cops get paid 10 dollars an hour and so do fire fighters and so does my husband who cuts grass for the county harrible benfits too. Back to your question i would think you would bc that is harrising him and are you sure its not the employees doing this or is it really the union reps i doubt it is the union reps doing this. Yes i would talk to his boss about this and tell him that if he does not control his employees that you will have to contact your lawyer and if it is the union reps get a the pictures and a video camra and tell them the same thing.
i doubt you will get a lawyers opion on this on yahoo answers but that is my opion good luck i am sorry they are doing this to you guys.

It depends. It might be a violation of labor law, but what remedy would you be suing for? To make them stop recruiting and harassment? It also depends on what state you are in, as unions wield considerably more power in some than in others. It might make your husband's life more difficult if he filed suit, but that is just one more of the union's tactics. Do they want him to just join, or do they want to extort dues from him? Have they threatenend anyone's physical safety? Pictures with rats and name-calling are probably protected under freedom of speech, but if they get uglier (drawing knives sticking out of people or blood spurting, for instance) you should contact the police and perhaps file a restraining order.

Contact the union they belong to them and ask them to ask their members to cease and desist, mention a "possible" newspaper article pertaining to their members behaviour.. Suing a union is useless-they have the time and the money to draw it out and stall and make life generally diffcult for a private citizen. Their behaviour is not uncommon, but it is also childish and immature. You have a possible suit for defamation. Is it your boyfriend or is he your husband? Best case scenario is to talk to them first, before starting an action against them. Litigation is very expensive and it requires a lot of time. Is it really worth it?
