It's pain. They are in so much pain that they self-destruct in order to stop it. They do value life, ironically, if they didn't, they would not try to stop the pain in their life.

The force on this is hate, hurt, confusion , sickness and anything that makes a person very unhappy. A person that goes through so much of this probably sees their life as senseless and wants nothing more to do with it. I learned a long time ago that life is what you make it not what you hope it will be. I am sure that there are worse things that can lead a person to end their life but I needed to share my opinion

The emotional pain that comes with clinical depression can be so intense that it makes living a torture chamber. In addition, the depression also triggers very high anxiety that is equally unbearable. I would equate the pain with being burned alive. People who suffer from extreme depression are looking to die to escape the psychic pain. It has nothing to do with whether you value your life or not. Once the neurotransmitters start malfunctioning to a severe extent, living is hell on earth. There are many great sites on the Internet that explain this in depth.

I will say somethin about one type of suicide. The most common in the western world is from deppression. The most common of these being, people with sexual abuse in childhood. The weight of all of the cultures shame and judgment lays on their back. The typical "wait untill your married for sex" and the like. They did not have a choice and it as often hidden and a secret for years. This alienates them from the family and often the family sides with the abuser.
The next most common is people that no one loves and no friends.
The next is veterans of war that have done or seen terrible things, this haunts them.
Oddly enough suicides are the products of a society and it shortcomings. I would have thought that fear of hell would keep people from suicide but their emotional suffering must be incredible.

A force of action, seems at the time the thing to do! A means of escape. To end the bad with more bad, so on to the next. However there is no next with suicide, it's a fatal end when those who do it consider that this will end there suffering and it does for a time!
Hope no one you know uses this as a way out...

My sister did it....she was mentally ill, end of story. She did not sin, she valued her life, but her illness was stronger than her. I HATE it when people blame the victims of suicide. They have no IDEA what is going on in their heads with the whys and hows.

Suicide usually coincides with mental illness and PAIN. I don't know any rational person who has done it. Even Kamakazis were high on METH so.....
