Absolutely you can walk on Div2 and 3.
Division 1A you'll be competing against potentially hundreds of scholarship candidates.
Start small, if you're that good you can look for scholarship to play later.

I'd would say go for it, pursue your dream and make it happen. Alot of these guys on heard don't really know what their talking about. If you were a three year starter and captain in high school its clear you have the on-field ability. The injury was something that all players deal with but if you can show a coach it made you better player and person than it might be your ticket to a school. I don't play college football but it's clear that you wanna make it happen. Let none stop for doing that.

You can walk on anywhere pretty much. Just find the coach and talk to him. Most of the time walk-ons have a lot of drive and determination, and coaches are looking for that, and will let you try out. If nothing else, they will let you play on the scout team in practices, running the plays of the upcoming opponent, and you will suit up for home games. I would go to a Junior college or division 2 or 3 school and try. Players at D1 schools are really good on a larger scale than smaller divisions. I work at a D2 school in the athletic department, and we have a lot of walk-ons that eventually get a lot of playing time in their Junior and Senior years. It just takes a lot of work and a good attitude.

Yes, it is possible, but not likely. Contact the Athletic Association and ask how. That or contact the coach directly - check the athletic website to see if there is contact info. But you might try that through an assistant coach instead; they might be more willing to listen. I would request a letter of recommendation from someone, preferrably your high school coach, to accompany a letter as well.
If you ask now, they might say no, partially because it is midseason, so be sure to ask again first thing in January. But if you're ready, go ahead and ask. You might be invited to a practice just to test your skills.
Keep your hopes high, but your expectations low. Good luck.

Yes, you can make a college team as a walk-on. Lots of people make the team doing this (depending on your position). They may even want you on the practice squad.
Go for it and good luck!

All sports teams off walk-on tryouts. For example, in the movie Rudy (based on a true story) -- Rudy wanted to play for Notre Dame, but was never recruited. He went to the walk-on tryouts and eventually got a spot on the practice squad and got to play in the last game of his senior year.
Go rent the movie, get psyched up and of course, call the athletic department to see when tryouts are held.

It is possible to walk on at the college level. My friend, Shaun O'Hara (now plays for the Giants), walked on at Rutgers University. After college, he went undrafted and signed as a rookie free agent with the Browns. Now he is playing for the Giants, 3 year contract for 5 million. Not bad. http://mvpdogs.com/

Yea you can walk on. All you have to do is go to the spring tryouts, run the 40 yard dash, shuttle run, and weight lifting session (see how many times you can lift 225 lbs). Try to get in contact with the coach just to let him know who you are. If you cant reach him try and get one of the assistant coaches. You should be running and lifting now in order to be ready. Good luck.
