Im into my 2nd year of highschool and have frequent absences. I always intend to make up the work and do shortly after, but i often get anxiouty about returning. I cant stand the questions i recieve after being out and the looks i get as well. My mother has given me the option of not returning and revieving an alternative diploma (GED) because of the severe anxiouty. Should i just muck it up and refuse to listen to what others have to say and continue my path? Or should i really consider not attending?

That supposed to say anxsioty, i'm sorry im not sure of the spelling. But this problem is only causing me to lose sleep and rank up more and more absent days. I am now nervous to go back and hear what's in store for me

don't think that dropping out and getting a GED is the answer. First of all a GED is never as good as a real diploma. Secondly, if your mom lets you do this she is enabling you for the rest of your life. Soon it will be work, relationships, and everywhere else.
Are the issues coming from your peers or from your teachers? Are you always anxious about school, or do you get anxious just because you have been absent and have to answer a lot of questions?
If it's the first, get some help from a psychiatrist. If it's the second, what started as a molehill has now become a mountain for you. You have "conditioned" yourself to avoiding the difficulties.
If you are absent for health reasons ask your school system about an alternative school.
If you are absent just because it is too much to get out of bed and go to school, again I would ask about transferring to an alternative or even just a new school. If you can start afresh, and go to school every day no matter how you feel, you will condition yourself to the act of attending school.
This is not just a sophomore thing - it's a lifetime thing.

I think that instead you should attend regularly...that way when you enter the classroom no one will say anything because they would be seeing you everyday and then you won't have that kind of anxiouty when going back. I feel the same way sometimes. Don't worry it will get better and don't be nervous, after the first day or so, it won't seem so scary and by then you will be used to going to school again.

What I suggest you do is, instead of making a decision of attend/not_attend now, first, find out why you have problems attending.
Are you just nervous or do you have psychological issues? You could start with counselling and see what develops.
You have an option of getting GED, but if you have problems with other people in general, that problem will not go away. You'll continue to have problems in your future.
Know that you are not required to answer any questions people might have.

haha sounds like me. dont give a crap what ppl say. just know what ur decisions are now will affect your future. stay in school, suck it up, stop being absent then and you wont get looks, and you wont have to worry about the make up. dont do ged cause thats just a school drop out, too lazy to attend and enjoy high school memories....those are the best. dont waste them on just being tardy, or absent. unless they have a good reason to get their GEd instead of GRADUATING then theyre pathetic. dont be pathetic.

I'm sure you'll feel the same in college. Or not. Talk to the school counselor and see what he/she thinks. Ask for a tutor or get ready for a GED. Or you can see a psychologist and see how you can overcome your anxiety. Hey you're not alone.

What is the cause of these absences? I think that if people are going to treat you that way and you can't stand that, you should consider your mom's idea or homeschooling, or even perhaps a different school.

if it is affecting your school work, look into an alternitive school that offers "speed" courses or drop out and enroll to get a ged. do whats best for you.. maybe see the doctor for the anxiety
