Well, it is hard to say. You are way below the normal weight gain at this time, only a doctor could really tell you if your baby is growing like s/he should be.

I am 5' 4'' and I weighed 118 when I first got preg. I went up about5 or 6 lbs because I ate like crazy lol I didnt start showing until I was 5 close to 6 months pregnant. Right now your baby is working on growing bones eyes skin ect. you wont be gaining a lot of weight until your 6or 7th month and after that get ready to break the scale cause that baby will need some fat on his or her bones before they come out and that is when they get really heavy. Your baby is probably a pound or less. ( I m no docotor btw) The only thing I think you should worry about with the ultrasound is how you are going to hold your pee until they let you go. I really almost pee'd in the chair if not on the way to the restroom. Then I sat there for like 10 minutes lol.
Dont worry enjoy your baby and finding out the sex of the baby too!!

Your weight gain is fine. At 160 you were overweight when you got pregnant (I am not criticizing I am the same height and weighed 10 lbs more than you).
As "overweight" you are supposed to gain 10-15lbs, considering you are supposed to gain a lbs a week the last 6 weeks that is 6lbs right there. Which leaves you 4-9lbs up until the 34th week.
However, I don't believe any of that weight bullshit (pardon my language). Eat well, eat healthy, eat enough for you and the baby -- basically eat so that you feel healthy. And your baby will be fine. And yes at the ultrasound they will/can tell you the size of your baby BUT they aren't very accurate so don't let them stress you out.
A week before I gave birth I weighed 10lbs less than when I got pregnant. The day after I weighed birth I was 30lbs less than when I got pregnant. I gave birth to a healthy 8lbs 2oz baby boy. I am not saying that loosing weight is a good idea -- I am just saying that if you loose weight from morning sickness or just eating a better diet your baby will be fine. (At this point you have probably lost a few lbs but you can't tell because your baby has gained them back)
You are fine, your baby is fine.
Best of Luck and Congrats

You don't have to worry. You situation, to me, seems like normal. During the ultrasound, they should be able to tell how the baby is growing and baby's weight. But at 20-22 weeks, baby's are going to be measured about 1 lbs, because during the first trimester (1-12 weeks) and 2nd trimester (13-24) weeks, baby is developing all the organs of the body. After 24 weeks is when the baby is going to enter into the growth phase.
Ultrasound done at 20-22 weeks is mainly to find the anatomy of the baby. With your weight, I don't think it will be problem to do the Ultrasound either.
Good Luck

When I was 38 years old, my husband was 39 and our children were 17, 15, and 12, we found out that I was pregnant even though I had been on birth control pills for 11 years. I had no normal symptoms of pregnancy plus I continuted to have a period because of the hormones in The Pill. When I went in for my first ultrasound to determine how far along I was, we were all surprised to find I was 17 weeks along! One of the things I was having trouble with was having stomach pains every time I ate and I spent most of the first 2 trimesters surviving on toast and vegetable soup. A routine glucose tolerance test revealed I had developed Gestational Diabetes and I was on a strict diet. On the day that I delivered my daughter, I weighed 25 pounds LESS than I did at my routine physical the year before. I, too, am 5 foot 2. I was overweight at 175 pounds before getting pregnant. I was able to wear most of my normal clothing throughout the pregnancy. Most people who did not know me well did not even know I was pregnant and several even comment on my losing weight even when I was pretty far along in my pregnancy. Your body gives first concern to your developing baby and even if you do not gain weight, it is most likely that your baby is getting everything he/she needs to develop properly. The ultrasound will give an idea as to how your baby is growing, that is why a lot of doctors order a routine ultrasound around the 20th week, just to check things out. Because of my age and the Gestational Diabetes, I was considered high risk. I had weekly non-stress tests and ultrasounds every Friday for 9 weeks before my baby was born. We had some delivery complications and she ended up a little small at 6 pounds, 14 ounces. But, she is a perfectly healthy (still a bit thin) 9 year old today. Even though our older kids are 27, 25, and 22, we can't imagine our family without our little surprise addition.

Don't worry yet honey. I went through the same thing. I have a tall but lean frame and I didn't really start gaining much until right about where you are now, then I really grew and grew. Most women put on the bulk of their pregnancy weight (and start showing more) in months 5, 6, and 7. That is when the baby is physically growing taller. The last couple months you still gain because thats when the baby is getting primarily "fatter". Don't preoccupy yourself too much with weight gain, but don't eat like a horse either. Unless your midwife/doc thinks you should be concerned, you should be fine. Take those prenatals.

Even if you lose a bit of weight, your baby is gaining. They will be able to tell how long the baby is and how much it weighs. They will be able to see the baby's organs and bones, etc.
When I had an ultrasound at 18 weeks they saw fluid on my daughters heart. We scheduled a level 2 ultrasound when I was 21 weeks and the fluid was gone. They said I was probably carring a bit of a cold or virus and it had passed to the baby so the baby was probably 'sick' at the time too. But she's now 17 months old and is happy and healthy and just fine!~

Just because you have only gained 4.5 lbs and are not showing as you might think and going for ultrasound does not necessarily mean anything. I think that if your Dr had worries then it would definitely be brought to your attention. Allot of Dr really mean it when they say to call and talk to them or their nurses, you may have to leave a message, but I am sure they will be happy to tell you all you need to know. Showing depends on your body size and shape, i.e, short waist ladies show more because there is no room but out for the baby to go, while longer waisted ladies may take longer to really pop out. Again, you really need to write down all your fears and questions to remember them on your next visit. Most pregnancies are monitored by ultrasound at this stage as well, so try not to panic! Good Luck!

If you have an important question such as this is always best if you ask your OB/GYN. He or she is always supposed to measure your baby to make sure that he or she is developing correctly. I know when I got to my doctor's appointments thats first thing my doctor does. He measures the baby during the ultrasound that way he can give you the gestational age of your child. I'm sure you have nothing to worry about when it comes to the weight gain. Some women do not show until they're well into their 6th month. I didn't show with my first child until I was 7 months. Just think of it as being lucky. Hope this helps!

I'm sure the baby is growing just fine and yes, they'll tell you how the baby is looking during ultrasound. Not everybody gains the average weight during their pregnancy and weight gain may not be all the way through ie. maybe you don't start gaining until you're several months along. Usually bigger women get told not to try to gain a lot of weight anyways.

What you have gained is fine. At around your weight , you are supposed to only gain 15 to 20 lbs for the entire pregnancy. If this is your first baby then it may take you longer to start showing. Dont worry about it. They will tell you the measurments and all.
