I took really hot baths with all of my pregnancies (I like the water to turn my skin red) However each pregnancy and each woman is different. So, ask your doctor.

Go ahead and have your hot bath. Get out if you feel dizzy or if you heart rate increases or you feel sick in any way. Try making it a few degrees cooler than usual if you want.
Take a glass of water with you (cold or room temp whatever your preference) to prevent dehydration. Take sips during the bath.
It is safer after the first trimester but even in the first trimester it is perfectly safe.
If you are really worried take a thermometer with you if your body temp increases by more than 1 WHOLE degree F (or over 101 depending on what you think), get out.
(I can't find any really good links but here are two here are the key points:
"The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) states that becoming overheated in a hot tub is not recommended during pregnancy. ACOG also recommends that pregnant women never let their core body temperature rise above 102.2º F. "
"So, is a hot bath safer than using a hot tub?
A hot bath, which is not uncomfortable or scalding, is a safer way to relax. In a bath much of your upper body will remain out of the water, making you less likely to overheat. Additionally, the water in a bath begins to cool off, as opposed to a hot tub, further reducing any risk of overheating. "
(Also your belly is probably out of the water)

Not a good idea. I understand because i am the same way..I loveit when I get out of the tub and my skin is red and there is steam coming off my body! but your baby's body does not have the ability yet to regulate its own body temperature. You should definately avoid it. Try soaking just your feet or legs in hot water. Sometimes that helps me. You can take a short hot shower. Just don't let the water focus right in your belly, make it pretty quick, and let yourself cool down immediately after.
Good luck and Congrats!

You can take a hot bath just make sure that the water is not that hot and you need to make sure that you are not in there more than 15 minutes and avoid submerging your belly for a long period of time. I hope this help and good luck.

This was my thing too. I remember wanting a hot bath so much when I was pregnant. I do remember reading, at the time, that the water should not be hot enough to redden your skin though as it raises your body temperature too much. I do not recall what temperature they were talking about or at what stage of pregnancy. I believe I read it in the "What To Expect When You're Expecting" book.
God bless!

your water should never be more than 100 degrees. Anything higher can raise your body temp and umm, well, basicly cooked your baby (i.e. a chicken egg being cooked on a hot pan?). Bath's are fine, even warm ones, but remember nothing over 100 degrees! Good Luck

No hot baths or hot showers. It is unsafe for the baby to raise your body temperature that much. Only lukewarm, short baths are recommended if you must take a bath, but warm, not hot, showers are preferred.

never take a hot bath or shower when pregnant! Epecially in the first trimester. Heat causes birth defects and abnormalities.
A warm bath is fine, and a warm shower is fine, but nothing steaming hot, and nothing that covers your body completely. You can get over heated without realizing it and harm the baby.

A warm bath is okay. Boiling hot is not. The reason is that your baby gets overheated because they have no way of regulating the temperature inside your belly. My midwife advised against it.
