I have a child who really wants to see this movie. However, I am concerned because of the ratings that say "some nudity" etc. I read the book myself. My question is this: (if you have seen the movie), what are the parts that deal with nudity? More specifically, do they show the scenes 1. silas and his punishment ritual 2. the religious sexual act 3. the body of the main character (I forget his name now). How graphic are these scenes? ANy help would be great, thanks!

I read the book and saw the movie ... the book is MUCH better!!
The nudity was Silas from behind as he punished himself. The sexual ritual was vague, and I don't recall any nudity there. I don't know how old your child is, but my son is 14, and I wouldn't have a problem if he were to see it. I wouldn't let a young child go, just because there are some things he/she probably wouldn't understand. It does show the grandfather's body, but it's not gruesome.

1. The most graphic thing I remember is Silas' punishment ritual. But it lasts a short time and is not gratuitous.

2. They do the religious sex act in a non-offensive way, sort of blurry too.

3. They don't show any gross part of the dead body (Sauniere).

That stuff is all in context anyway, the entire subject matter is sophisticated, so if you think your child is mature enough to handle it, it should be alright. I think it's PG-13, and I'd say that's an accurate rating.

1. Yes, it shows Silas' punishment ritual. And yes he is naked when he does this.
2. It vaguely shows the religious sex act when Sofia reminisces.
3. Yes they do show Sofia's grandfather's dead body.

It is pretty graphic in some parts, I wouldn't suggest anyone under 14 watch it.

I would not recommend any child under the age of 15 to see the movie. The nudity is not explicit, but it is there. And the ritualistic torture that Silas performs on himself is graphic.

If I remember correctly they do show the body of Sofia's grandfather. I don't remember in how much detail though.
The worst part for me was watching Silas and his punishment. Ewwww.

1. Yes and it's fairly graphic for me (I'm 43) let alone for a child to see.

2. Yes, but just in passing. No real concern here.

3. Langdon? No. Sophie's grandfather? Yes, and it's a bit graphic but not like #1.
