i know how you feel, but there might be a reason that you father doesn't like them. He could have had a bad experience with one when he was younger. Or maybe he feels that you won't take care of it and most of the resoponsibility will fall on his shoulders. My mother did the same thing when I was young, but when I got older, she actually bought one!!

well the thing about dogs is they are good animals but are very dependant animals. For one you should walk a dog for an hour or so each day to make sure it gets exercise. 2. they need alot of attention. you cant just let them be like you can with cats. Cats can entertain themselves where dogs need your attention more. 3. Dogs can be very loud. Even the littlest of dogs can have a loud brak/yap. 4. Personally i dont liek having to clean up the poop after a dog is done doing its business. Whwn ever you take a dog for a walk yuo cant just leave the poop there you have to take a bag with you and pick it up so no one steps in it. Im sure youve been there. Dogs also require bigger houses because for the most parts dogs are bigger than cats, not always, theres smaller ones.

He knows that he and your mum will have to pay for it, take him to the vet when needed, take him for a walk most times, find where to leave him when you go on holidays, clean up after him, while you play a little with it in your free time. When you have your own house, do get a dog. Take it from me, I was in the same situation that you are now, but I know my parents were right after all. Not that no one should have a dog, but it is a big commitment for the whole family and you can't force them to take it, or you'll end up with more abandoned dogs!
