Cosha? You mean 'kosher'? That has to do with Jewish preparation, they have all kinds of rules too.

Muslims and Jews do not eat pork of any type because the pig is considered an unclean animal. It's an omnivore, which means it can and will eat anything, and in the desert regions of the world, where these religions originated, the pigs ate whatever they could find, and it was often carrion, old rotting meat, even human remains ... so naturally pork wasn't considered safe for human consumption. If you look through old newspapers, you will find gruesome stories of pigs attacking very young children because the pigs are hungry and the children are there ... and easily overpowered. But the pigs are omnivores ... like us.

The Qur’an prohibits the consumption of pork in no less than 4 different places. For instance: 'Forbidden to you (for food) are: dead meat, blood, the flesh of swine, and that on which hath been invoked the name of other than Allah.' [Al-Qur’an 5:3]. What most Christians don't realise is that it is also written in the bible, albeit in different words: 'And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud, it is unclean unto you. Ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcass.' [Deuteronomy 14:8] The reason for this instruction is because eating pork can cause no less than seventy different types of diseases. A person can have various helminthes like roundworm, pinworm, hookworm, etc. One of the most dangerous is Taenia Solium, which is in lay man’s terminology called tapeworm. It harbours in the intestine and is very long. Its ova i.e. eggs, enter the blood stream and can reach almost all the organs of the body. If it enters the brain it can cause memory loss. If it enters the heart it can cause heart attack, if it enters the eye it can cause blindness, if it enters the liver it can cause liver damage. It can damage almost all the organs of the body. Another dangerous helminthes is Trichura Tichurasis. A common misconception about pork is that if it is cooked well, these ova die. In a research project undertaken in America, it was found that out of twenty-four people suffering from Trichura Tichurasis, twenty two had cooked the pork very well. This indicates that the ova present in the pork do not die under normal cooking temperature. Oh, and kosher means food that fulfills the requirements of Jewish law.

Because a man told them not to, and they with out question followed this stupid rule, I asked a Muslim friend about this and he it's because the pig is seen as unclean. Which is stupid really, but each to there own. Most of the things they say about the pig can also be the same for all others animals, You know a lot of people like a nice bit of chicken, but did you know they eat their own, I had some, and if one of the chicken get sick, and weak the others attack it, and eat the body, and of course eating what ever made it sick in the first place.

Kosher is the Jewish term for food which has been passed by the Rabbi as being prepared in accordance with their laws.

Muslims and Jews share a lot food-wise and so although they are traditionally enemies you will see them using the same shops in Edware Road in London.

It is written that pigs are "unclean" and so should not be eaten. This probably came from a very real threat in a hot country from eating food which would make you sick if it was not prepared properly.

The scriptures of Jews, Muslims and Christians have the same taboos. One of them is that beasts with cloven hooves but no horns are unclean. Creatures of the sea that have not fins are unclean. I have had many discussions with Muslim friends about this, and we agree that when these things were written they were probably not so much a matter of some sort of unfathomable sin as early health codes.

Jesus said that a lot of the old restrictions no longer applied.

Kosher refers to ways things are prepared, and/or used. A lot of the laws of Kosher are extremes of what was written. For example scripture says "Thou shalt not boil a kid in its mother's milk". Under Kosher law, that means you cannot have meat and dairy products together, this can mean anything from on your plate to being present in the same room at meal time.

A friend of mine who is Jewish used to joke about eating "Kosher ham and cheese bagels".

The pig is one of the filthiest animals on earth. It lives and thrives on muck, filth and dirt. In the villages they don’t have modern toilets and the villagers excrete in the open air. Very often excreta are cleared by pigs.

Some may argue that in advanced countries like Australia, pigs are bred in very clean and hygienic conditions. Even in these hygienic conditions the pigs are kept together in sties. No matter how hard you try to keep them clean they are filthy by nature. They eat and enjoy their own as well as their neighbor’s excreta. ”
