I never really had any Christmas traditions in my family growing up other than the tree, gifts, and food. But I know a lot of people around here get their children red pajamas every year and let them open up that one gift the night b4 Christmas. I am going to try and start that tradition as well as baking cookies the night before for Santa. I am so excited to start new traditions with my girls!

I am 20 years old and My mom and I have always put the Christmas tree up on Thanksgiving day. I get very angry and mean if its not up when I go to bed at night on Thanksgiving. We also make Christmas Candy and cookies with her oldest sister the week before Christmas. I was 4 when my grandma died so I dont remember her, but my mom kept the tradition of letting me put the tree topper on the tree (my grandma used to have a spire tree topper we dont use that because we dont want to break it.) but we use an angel my mom made on the main tree and a gold star that my other grandma gave us for the other tree. Another thing I have to have my stocking, I dont need that other stuff as long as i have the stocking. Good Luck coming up with something that is your family tradition. Merry Christmas!!

When my son was tiny, we started going, just the two of us, to a local tree farm to get the tree. When he went in the service, the first Christmas he came home, I had put up an artificial tree! Talk about pouting! So now when I know he will be home, I wait till he gets here and we go together for the tree! My daughter and Husband know that it a tradition for us and understand. This year he won't be home, the Marines need him "over there ". Maybe next year!

Make a gingerbread house (we make one every year and it is a lot of fun).
Drive around looking at lights
Make cookies to give to the neighbors
Keep Christmas books with your decorations so that you only read them during the holidays and they remain a special part of the season
Listen to the same Christmas CD every year when you decorate the tree

Every year we have the hidden pickle. Christmas eve after we have go to bed my mom puts the pickle ornament somewhere hidden on the tree and the person who finds it Christmas morning gets the special gift. For us the gift has always been a movie but it can be whatever.

On Christmas Eve my father took out our nativity set and used the figurines to tell the Christmas story. You could start with a basic nativity set and then add new pieces as the years go by. We have a set made by fontanini which is very nice and also very durable.

You might want to check into the christmas traditions of the countries from which your family originated. This site http://www.californiamall.com/holidaytraditions/ has links to christmas traditions from several countries. There are many traditions in which all members of your family can participate and this can be a way to get your children interested in the origins of their family.

i'm a daddy lady to the fullest. Our project replaced into going grocery buying. My mom and a pair of sisters hated it, yet that replaced right into a convention for us. This 3 hundred and sixty 5 days i'd be 30 years previous... even as i bypass living house to visit for vacation trips, I nonetheless bypass grocery buying with dad. i'd propose carrying activities. hit upon a carrying journey you all have a good time with and purchase the low-cost seat once a month. It provides them some thing to look ahead to and remember. in case you get there early adequate, take pictures. you receives to characteristic extra concepts on your scrapbooks. %. a snack, purchase warm canine there, or bypass for pizza after wards. that is constructive to be some thing unforgetable! i'm constructive you do not want this, yet reliable good fortune... It feels like they already have an unforgetable dad!!

take her to the store to pick out a special christmas ornament and put it on the tree every year and put the ones from the years past up as well and label them on the bottom so you know what year it was bought on and so forth then after say 10 years you'll have a pretty little collection.
