You`ve had a bad day, coping with stressful situations, moody people, and generally feel like you just want to be alone, have a glass or two of wine, and chill out, but feel like you have to do your duty, cooking for the family, washing up afterwards etc. Is it selfish, now and again, to say, sod it, i`m not doing it, i need some ME time, to regain my sanity, or do you just muddle on through, feeling tired and depressed. This mood hits me from time to time, like right now, do you get this, should we not look after number one, just now and again, without feeling guilty?

honey, i know EXACTLY what you mean, and yeah, i also wake up and say "you know what, i ain't doin s+it today!" I'll wallow in my pj's, not get showered until after lunch, and just mooch around behind closed curtains and become a temp slob.
no harm in that at all.
in my opinion, it's a womans perogative to have "slob" days, we run around like blue a+sed flies getting everything done, sorted and organised, so yeah, like you say, to just have one of those days for "me" time - why the hell not, you go girl!!

Yeah i've got it now. I'm off tomorrow too. I am usually in a good mood when i'm off work but today I don't know just feel bit down. Have just handed my notice in at work.
Maybe that has something to do with it. But yeah sometimes I think everyone justs want to be alone.

hiya shalama, yes i get like that a lot but i just have to work through it. i dont get a choice of saying sod it though. my dad has alzheimers and i`m the only one in the family caring for him but i completely understand where ur coming from though and i certainly don`t think u should feel guilty for having a bit of "me" time. after all ur not a robot. i really hope ur mood lifts, it`s horrible feeling like that.

Not at all, all mom's need time for themselves! Even if you have to take it for yourself! So, if your stressed out, sit down and enjoy your glass of wine! Hopfully the kids are old enough to feed themselves or Dad's around to help out! That's part of his job... helping you out, and making sure your stress levekl doesn't get too high! Make him cook you dinner for once!! Good luck, and relax and smile!

it's always important to get alone time.. even if it's only a half an hour in the bath tub... Unwinding, relaxing, and clearing your head are important for your mental health, as well as to keep us grounded... Don't feel bad about putting yourself first once in awhile, because if you don't make time to take care of yourself, you will become, like you said, pissed off at everything, and that will make you a not-so-pleasant person to be around.. So trust me, take a time-out, collect yourself, and everyone around you will be glad that you did...

You know, I actually agree with you on this matter, I do feel that way sometimes. Sometimes the day just doesn't go my way and for that reason I hate it. I curse, I get in such mood and I never want to speak to anyone.
It's never wrong to say "Thats it, someone else do it" it's never wrong to look out for number 1, I stand by you for saying that!

it is fine to feel like this...every woman/ mother feels this way from time to time...if you dont feel like cooking...order a pizza or ask your husband or kids to help...not everything is i hard to cok...it is hard to juggle work, food, kids, cleaning, and normall stresses in life all at one time...we are all human and even though women have been thought of to automatically have these jobs (ALL OF THEM) we are not "superman" or "mighty mom" so yes we all need a break and we all need help....grab your wine your favorite book or tv show and relax...let someone else take over and look out for you for once!
