I just want to say that I'm not Catholic--I'm Orthodox. I just wanted to see what you think about this. Why did the Catholic church accept gays/lesbians? It just doesn't make sense.....it says in the Bible that man is to be with a woman.....not man with a man, or woman with a woman! If the Catholics preach this, then why are they giving "acceptions"? If you ask me, they're all nuts!

Follow up to what Thomas wrote.....yes, you are to accept people, but not encourage them to be doing something that is wrong. I never read or heard a thing in the Bible that it's "okay" to find someone of the same sex attractive.

Another follow up.......we are not suppose to "modernize" religion. Why do people try to shortcut their ways around things? People are constantly looking for the easiest way out.

Doesn't the bible spout off stuff about acceptance?

Oh, by the way, gays have always been in the catholic church, this just gives the priests a chance to come out of the closet and still keep their jobs.

Because they are changing their religion to accomodate people of all kinds. If they did not then the catholic church would be accused of racism. The bible said a lot things that they have had to change in order to accept the majority of people.

Here's a challenge - If Jesus ministered to and accepted the Samaritan woman, why shouldn't the Catholic church minister to gays/lesbians?

Here's another challenge - if you have no sin - why not cast the first stone on the adulteress? Why do you judge gay people?

Here's one more challenge - if the Catholics are nuts - what does that make you other than a Pharisee....

The Catholic Church believes there is nothing sinful about being homosexual. But homosexuals like all unmarried people are called to celibacy.

The Church specifically says that homosexuals "must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided."

With love in Christ.
