Well Iran has been wanting to talk with the US for a while now. When the Pres of Iran wrote his letter to Bush he said that he would love to talk to the US to discuss options. Yet we just blew him off and talked about military options. We make Iran to be this big bad guy but if we were to just listen to what they really say instead of listen to what just the media and our own govt tell us...we'd understand it better.

Iran has proclaimed that it wishes to destroy Israel. Nuclear weapons would give them the opportunity to do so, heaven forfend.
If Israel does indeed have a nuclear capability, it will use it only as a last resort, after a first strike by some other power.
Iran is the biggest threat to the West today, and their military capability must be curbed by the West.
Talks with the U.S. will just buy time for the Iranians.

This is not a first it was done in Afghanistan also. I think we would be foolish not to give it a try but I only hope that our Gov. want sale out to Iran in order to bail us out in Iraq. As far as US changing it's attitude there are areas that I think should be changed like our constant support of Israel. When Israel attacks unprovoked we should not go to bat for them. As far as the view that Iran is part of the axis of evil well they have earned that reputation through their words and deeds. The pres in Iran refers to the US as the great Satan so that attitude also needs to be changed.

Depends whether Iran will be talking from only one side of its mouth. Actually, Iran is just tweaking its nose at Bush because Iran knows Bush can't do anything about it. The US is so bogged down in Iraq trying to impose democracy on the people who can't get along with each other.

Your premise that the US needs help from Iran and Syria is a sick joke when you consider the fact that Iran and Syria are our enemies and should be bnombed back to the stone age instead of allowing them to get more weapons. My guess is that your lack of historical perspective leads you to believe that appeasement works because everybody wants peace... Ever heard of Neville Chamberlain, the British PM who made a peace deal with Hitler while Hitler was laughing at him? Learn your history or repeat the mistakes of previous generations. When a dictator says he wants you dead, kill the dictator and all who support him.

We need to pursue diplomacy to its end. I'm tired of Bush thumbing his nose at those who offer to sit down at the table and talk. He's going to be the death of us all if he continues with his arrogant attitude.

Talk to them and change the attitude. Discussion is the way to go. It's worth a serious try, the alternative is unthinkable.

I think it will be hard to change our attitude as long as that wacko is in charge in Iran! If you are fooled by his act maybe you can handle the talks for us.

If Iran wants to talk and make empty promises to the world, that is fine with me. They are going to do what they want to do anyway.
That is what Saddam did with 17 UN resolutions against him. That is what North Korea did on their nuke inspections and UN resolutions against them. So if you want our politicians to continue talks with people who do not plan on following through with what they promise, then bring the talks on.
