the comical chemistry between david jason and nicholas lyndhurst is great.. it makes some of the not-so-funny jokes funny enough to make you laugh.

I always liked Only Fools and the reason it was so good and also funny is it was like real life with characters you could relate to and believe in. Some episodes you laughed until you cried and others you cried until you had to laugh.
My favourite ones are when the chandelier fell down/Del becoming a dad/the one where they painted eluminouse paint in the chip shop and on his moms grave stone/where he fell in the posh pub/blow up dolls/ so many more but those realy stick out.It will go down as a classic comedy programme for all time.

It was funny the first few times around, been repeated a bit too much now though. Some of my fave older comedies that I feel should be on tv a lot more include Blackadder (apart from the first series!) and Fawlty Towers and, more recently, Father Ted, Trigger Happy TV and Black Books. Bill Bailey and Dylan Moran are legends!

You must have an extremely limited sense of humour because it's really NOT the funniest thing. There are sooo many more funny programmes! For instance:
Fawlty Towers
Father Ted
Friends
The Royle Family
How can you forget these classics!? And so many others!

My favourite bit from only fools and horses is the Blow Up Dolls when they go off in the 3 wheeler, and also when del boy falls over in the wine bar when the bar bit is lifted. They give me a good giggle

Since you said "telly", I am assuming that you are in England (here in the U.S. we call it television or TV).
I visited England a year ago, & the must say British TV leaves a lot to be desired! In the U.S., it's overkill with several hundred stations via cable or satellite TV. The most amusing thing we saw while we were in the U.K. were old American sitcoms (really bad ones), and a spelling bee with 7th graders that the judges made cry when they made a mistake.
Good luck! I would recommend getting a satellite dish -- then you can have your pick of several hundred stations, usually with nothing particularly interesting on them (but at least you have a CHOICE).
Cheerio !!!!

I regret to say it has never done it for me. I have a wide range of things I really enjoy in televised humour, from 'The League of Gentlemen' through to Benny Hill, not forgetting 'Dinner Ladies' and 'Smack the Pony'!

It's classic British comedy. I love it. It's so well written and every episode is a laugh from beginning to end. Watched the Jolly Boys one last night on UK Gold, one of the best!!!
