It depends on what you need done. For example I set up site cPanels to were users can login and then enter information to the website without using FTP so they can manage their site on thier own without being a nerd or having a nerd upload everything for them. It is extremely low priced because it is mainly a one payment deal and then you can easily manage it on your own.
The most common way script/web designers set these up is with PHP to upload and display data and MySQL (Structured Query Language) RDBMS (Relational Database Management System). Or if you are using a Microsoft server then I beleive MsSQL and ASP (not to sure about Microsoft at all though).
I'm only 15 so I charge only about $50.00 - $200.00 depending on how large the project is, and I monitor/update databases and your website for only about 3-5 dollars a week, maybe even less again depending on how many logs you want me to keep up on etc.
On average i'm betting you'll see those rated double for an OK guy to look over your site.
I can manage your website securely for the rates above if you'de like and will be able to fix any problems that come along if they ahve to do with the following languages -
XHTML/HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Java (only a little Java and yes it's different from JavaScript), PHP, MySQL, Ajax, etc.
Those are pretty much the only languages besides ASP, and MsSQL that any website ever uses.
I do have a portfolio set up if you want to take a look.
