Each car has a different price and knowing what kind you have is the first step. Good job, you would be surprised how many people don't know. Look in the phone book and call Kragan or your local auto shop tell them what you need and they will ask you some questions like what type of car and such and let you know not only the price but weather they have it in stock or not if you want to bye it today they can hold it for you or if not then at least you know how much you need to save.

I would estimate the cost of alternator between 40 and 60
dollars. Most shops want get 60 dollars an hour, should not
take more than 1 hour to instal. You should call 4 different shops
for exact figures and cost. You will get 4 different ansears. They
should be all very close in price of each other. Then there is
always the problem of how soon they can get to it !

Depending on if it's a 4 cly or 6 it shouldn't take longer then an hour, but the shop will bill you for at least 1 hour. The alt. will cost about 175.00 to 225.00. Shop time about 60.00
If you know someone that's even a little mechanically inclined, buy one at NAPA or a local shop, have him do it. should cost about 150.00 and a 12 pack of Coors light

Alternators generally cost from one to two hundred dollars, depending on what you want. They are generally easy to put on but some shops make you think it's hard. I wouldn't think more than 250.

Figure about $100. to $125. for the alternator plus a couple hours labor at $40. per hour, total about $205. plus tax.
