I have been on the job over a year and I work for a Mortgage Broker doing loan processing.

They say the best time to ask is the end of the day on a Thursday or a Friday, as long as no big emergencies in the office have come up. They will be in a better mood.

Go in confident... eyes up and smiling. Be sure to say how much you have enjoyed working for your company this past year, and that you are looking forward to more great times. Start to talk about some of the accomplishments you have made, and then say that you would like to negotiate a raise.

You have to be able to show your boss that you have EARNED an increase in your pay. Be prepared to cite real data that shows all the ways that you have made and/or saved significant money for the company. You have to be able to prove your value. Good luck.

The best way is to do your job so well that the pay increase is HIS IDEA. Though, truth to tell, I'm not sure whether a corporate loanshark should be doing her job "well."

Ask for a salary review if there isn't one already built in. Show how great your skills are and what other banks would pay you if you left.
