After seeing questions posted several times a day of how to get around myspace blocks for school, I gotta ask this question. I just don't understand why the urgent need to bypass the blocks, so please, someone...help me out here! Why is it so darn important to access myspace from school...even when schools have it blocked???

People...you are at school to learn, not surf the internet! You have thus far failed to convince me why it is so important to access myspace at school. I have a myspace page as do a lot of my friends...but guess what? It bores me after just 10 minutes! And hey...if you don't have a computer at home, GO TO THE LIBRARY AFTER SCHOOL.

School's not for learning??? Hmm...when did that happen??? And here all along, that's what I always thought it was for - even when I was in school. Well, geez...are the taxpayers aware of this??? The ones who vote for levies to support the schools all the time? Boy, this counry really is in a sad state of affairs, isn't it? What a shame.
Can I ask what your plans are after graduating high school?

Because they are totally obsessed with the stupid thing.
Baffles me, if I was their age, I'd be having more fun going out and seeing friends, not being stuck on a computer. Also, with the lovely luxuries that you can buy, a good education for a wonderful future career is so important in this day and age when jobs aren't that easily to get.

As a former Technology Coordinator at a school, I have the scoop. Schools try to block access to the site through their proxy servers. All the posts are from kids looking for ways around the proxy so they can get on and "talk" to their friends. It's a status thing. If kids can post from school, then others think they are cool for getting around the blocks. And because most parents don't let the kids use MySpace from home or let alone use the internet at home.

Lady, if we were actually in school to learn; 20% of americans wouldnt be illiterate, 50% of jobs would require more than a 6th grade education, and i wouldn't need community servive to graduate. The only thing kids go to school for is to be out of thier parents hair for a while.
Really the only reason most kids come to high school is to be with their friends, so chill and be happy...and surf the web

They're just bored. We could blame the teachers for not being inspiring! Or we could blame myspace for being addictive! Anyway, you're tight. Here are a few pages I like.

Okay,
I am at school, I can't get on MySpace.
I just finished all my work here in my computer class.
There is absolutely nothing to do on here!!
Don't say, "Go read a book," because there are none here.
I have free time; I want to get on MySpace.
The end.
There's my personal answer.

Myspace.com is just one of those "in" things amongst school aged kids today. It's just like when I was in school - except we were trying to sneak Game Boy (the original) into class to play.

Um, school is boring and MySpace isn't. They didn't have the internet when I was in public school. I'm very jealous.
