That could happen up to a week before your about to get your period. . is it coming soon? Mine just recently started to hurt about a week before i start and I'm 19. It never happened before so it's possible this could be the reason....
It's also possible they are growing?!?!?!

You may be going through a growth spurt. Your breasts generally continue growing and forming until you're about 18-20. Believe it or not, it may also be the changing of the seasons. When it's cold and damp, my nipples hurt very badly and actually turn dark purple, like they are bruised. I'm 27, and this really started about 2 or 3 years ago. Try to keep track of environmental factors and the timing of your cycle when you get these symptoms.

Your body is changing constantly getting you ready for motherhood, usally when you ovulate or when you have your period your nipples get sore because of the increase in hormones in your body. If they continue to hurt and you find a lump bring it to your doctors attention because this happened to me and I wound up having breast cancer. Good Luck

Honey, you should be asking your Mom this very personal question. The Internet is no place for a bunch of strangers to hear about a 16-year old's nipples. There are way too many weirdos out in cyberland! Take better care to protect yourself.
