I can leave town and make $20 hr as a power plant tech.( the job i did in the navy) the plant is on strike and I will be locked in the plant working 12hr shifts 7 days a week till the strike is resolved. I work now as a construction labor/leadman making $15hr. there are 3 superintedants and 2 of them hate me and rain days are the norm this time of year. I enjoy working outside and hard work does not bother me. I have a wife and 4 month old child to think about

The only problem with being a scab is that when the strike is resolved, you're out of a job, and you won't be able to go back to being a construction laborer with that group so I would assess the risk and reward. Is it worth the extra money to have an insecure job? If it is, then take it. I think that strikes are risky though, especially if you don't know when it's going to end. If you could use the money for you family, do it. If you think it's going to be better for you, do it. But be aware you might be out of a job is the strike is resolved sooner rather than later. You have to ask yourself if you are willing to play that game.

This sounds like it would require quiting your current job. If so, then it doesn't sound like a good move. This strike will not last forever and you would just have to find a new job afterwards.

If you could work at the factory on the days you don't work at your current job, that would be a good move.

It sounds like what you need to do is look for a new secure job. You could quit your current job, look for a new job, and use the factory work as a bridge, but you don't know how long the strike will last and you don't know how long it will take you to find a new job.

Given your family situation, I would say you should stay at your current job and search for something more satisfying, but stable.

I wouldn't cross picket lines and lose a regular job for 5 an hour you want be hired there after the strike is over and even if you were the other employees will make life living he** for you, in my opinion I would say no.

Go take the money in the plant, but start searching for a new permanent job at the same time.

As a union man myself, a scab is the lowest form for life. Jeeze, people are fighting hard to earn a good living. From my own perspective I wouldn't cross a picket line for any reason.

just think of your family before making any decision that will ruin your future. It may be good in the beginning but things are good while they last.

If you can cross the lines without any remorse then you should do what you need to do for your family.

I think you should go for the money but when things blow over the money is prolly going to go down and your not going to be viewed in a nice light.
