In a pretty stupid attempt to fix my toenails, I wounded myself on one of my toes... The injury's been there for several days now and I've been taking care of it with Betadine with not very good results. As you may know, the fact that the feet is aislated and under stress during most of the day makes it kinda hard. Today I extracted a relatively large amount of pus for a toe and decided to try something else.

I was thinking on submerging to toe in alcohol for a while and then making a bandage from gauze, or something like that; I am afraid, however, that this will not do much good as it will still get infected again when I put my socks/shoes on.

So, do you have any suggestions on disinfecting it and KEEPING IT THAT WAY?

Soak the wound in warm soapy water. Rinse with cooler clean water. Next swap the wound with the Betadine again. Next get some triple antibiotic cream and smear it gently around the wound. WRAP the toe with some kind of bandage. If the pus does not go away within 2 days I would definitely make a doctor appointment to get it checked out--something else could be wrong. Good Luck :)

Best advice I can give is to see a doctor. Skin infections can become quite serious if not treated properly...think about MRSA and flesh-eating bacteria. See a doctor and you'll probably get an antibiotic. Make sure you take the full course.

I gotta be getting close to level 2 now.

If you are having colored drainage aka pus you need to see the doc as you have an ifection in it and this needs antibiotic ointment or maybe even oral antibiotics. Normally you would clean a wound with normal saline or maybe dilute hydrogen peroxide. See your doc and get this treated.

oil of oregano...take orally and apply it topically. It can burn a little and doesn't taste all that well. Get it at at health food store...minimum of 75% cavcrol. It is a powerful anti-bacterial, viral, fungus and parasitic with many other health benefits. You probably should wrap it until it starts to heal. Soak it in salt baths.

do not submerge your foot in alcohol! what you should do is soak your foot in an epsom salt bath for as long as you can. do it multiple times a day, if you can, see a doctor for an antibiotic.
