Some people do not know the 19th century was the 1800's and not the 1900's.

If you check, you'll find the telephone was invented very late in the 19th century and very few people had them. Most people did live without them until the 1920s. Even then, they were considered a luxury by all those whose business didn't require one (like doctors, lawyers, and police officers).

The only reason would be to communicate with my boyfriend who lives 40 miles away, other than that, i dont have muc of a reason to miss the telephone. In fact since it causes so much radiation and it makes me spend so much money I would rather not have a phone but now a days it is an essential for living.

I think you CAN live without a telephone. Food, water and shelter are things you can't live without. Maybe you want a telephone, maybe you want it real bad but you could survive without one. Heaven forbid you'd actually have to talk to the people that are next to you.

Hmmmm,if I didn't have a telephone, I sure as heck would have a telegraph, lol. At times, I realize the difficulty of doing the job without one especially in law enforcement in a big city.
