Hello everyone!! Ive just got back from my OB appointment. Im 13 weeks and was expecting a doppler to hear the heartbeat. Instead she gave me a scan so i could see the heartbeat and the baby!!! Im soooo excited I can;t stop looking at the pic, even tho to anyone else it is just a blob, to us it is the most wonderful pic we have ever seen!!! After i popped to the loo and when I came back, I caught my partner sniffly with a tear in his eye, transfixed by the pic. I was so touched by his reaction and wondered how other men react when they see their babies on a scan for the first time? I would be interested in your experiences

You are one of the lucky ones!! Me too! My husband was the same way. We had a 4D ultrasound done, and he sits and looks at the pics a lot! He is not one to cry about things, but he said he knows he won't be able to control his tears when he hears her first cry...I can't wait! Congratulations to you and good luck!
P.S. All the other women who say that their husbands don't show that kind of emotion...I feel very sorry for you. You are missing something really wonderful!

I am so happy for you and your guy!!! My guy was so scared at our first few OB appts...that he had trouble relaxing. I think he was nervous bc the doc always checked me out first...its not like he is used to going to the gyno with me!!!
So...on our 13 weeks visit we had our 1st trimester screening, and we got to look at the little guy for 45 minutes bc he would not cooperate! She asked if wwe wanted to know the sex bc she would tell us if she could see...then he flipped and she could tell 75% sure it was a boy. We will find out for sure on Dec. 6 at our 21 week scan. He grabbed my hand, and tears were in his eyes. He and I both wanted a boy so bad!!! When the nurse left for a minute...he stood up and bent down to give me a huge hug...he was so elated...it was the best thing I have ever seen!!!
There has not been a day that he has not walked in the house after work, and grabbed me and said let me see my belly. He was so scared at first as we were not expecting this to happen, but now he is so in love with his baby...I cannot imagine what it will be like when he actually gets to hold our baby in his arms!!!
Enjoy every moment...even the bad ones!!!

That's sweet. My husband didn't care much when he saw the first pic, but I was only 7 wks and you could just barely see the outline of a head, arms and body. We just had another last wk (I'm 21 wks now) and it was really neat. We got to watch the baby jump around and even my husband was amused. We got great pics and all my friends say they're the most clear ultrasound pics they've ever seen :) Anyhow, I'm sure it depends on the guy. That's great that your man is already in love with your baby! I think it will take holding mine for it to really hit my husband.

My guy just smiled, and kiddingly asked if that was its penis...the umbilical mass...I said no, and giggled and said he was about to shout "That's my boy!" Turns out shes the girl he really was hoping for. He showed up for the second scan, which determined what she most likely was. I didn't catch any emotion from him, I was too busy watching the screen, and too nerve wracked because everyone wanted to be there and then ran very late, which held up the doctor. Then I was told that I may have to have a cesarean because of where the placenta is located. By the time we got to the oohing and ahhing part of that u/s I was exhausted. I've got another u/s scheduled for December to check the placenta...but I'm not telling anyone...they just caused me un necessary stress.

with our first child my husband was very protective of me after seeing the baby like something clicked in him and he knew that he had to keep me and the baby safe. when we found out it was a boy he started singing to the baby and talking to it about baseball and football. the second one my first son was in the office with us and so was my husband they both were so happy. and now with this one my husband won't let me move without makig sure that there is nothing for me to fall on. he is such a great dad. he keeps talking to the baby and asking if its a boy or a girl. hes in love. lol good luck and congrats on the baby.

My financee fought back tears because he was overcome with emotion too. i didn't start crying until they told me it was a boy. It wasnt because i wanted a boy over a girl it was just because I knew exactly who that little life was going inside me. We had ours done on Valentines Day. It was so very special to us.
Congrats!
