Why worry about things you have no control over? In other words...YES, you're being paranoid. Live your life to the fullest and enjoy it.

I know the feeling! At any second, "ping!", the string will snap and the whole thing will collapse.
We are terribly vulnerable. A disease could easily sweep through our populations, we are not isolated any more. They hint at pandemics all the time.
Nuclear technology and hate faith is growing daily.
We are blindly stripping the planet of it's protection systems for instant resources.
The melting ice caps could raise the water level and flood the swamp lands of Florida, the island of Manhattan and the sand bar called Santa Monica -- essentially turning it to quicksand.
China faces a major drop in water supply threatening billions of people in the next 15 years.
The human population will go on. We can't completely drain the Earth of it's resources. We may face a sweeping de-population via war, disease or climate change but some will survive.
I doubt we'll retain the level of technology or data base of knowledge. If we do, I hope we learn some lessons!

Over the next 50 years the climate will get really hot and people will adjust (hopefully) by shifting away from fossil fuels and planting trees. We will need millions of new trees to correct the damage that's already been done.
IF the correction is not made, the atmosphere will get more and more pollutants and carbon dioxide until you see die-offs in the animal populations first, then the human population. We'll take a lot longer because we can always cart around oxygen and build underground to escape the heat.
I doubt things will get that bad, though. Eventually people will wake up and realize we have to major replanting effort. Restricting the use of fossil fuels will do no good if we don't replant trees and get them to grow.
The next 50 years will see the worst of it, but we won't disappear and the world won't end.

Unfortunately no one knows, but I would like to make two points. First, you must live your life despite this. The truly important thing in life is to experience all of the soul building things that life has to offer: love, joy, creative inspiration, life energy, and kindness. These things can not be seen or measured but these things light the inner light of knowledge within you. More importantly, these things transcend this life and this world. So my second point is this: it does not matter if the earth ends today because the true you will be unchanged by this.

1. The 2nd Law of Thermodynamics states that the quality of all energy in the Universe is degraded irreversibly....the inexorable death of the universe is not only predicted, its mandated by entropy.
2. It's an astonomical surety that our Sun will supernova in a billion years, leaving the earth a burned crisp...
The thought that by the very nature of entropy the ultimate and only possible future for man is annihilation has infiltrated our culture like a paralysis. "How is it possible to understand life when the entire world is ordered by a law such as the second principle of thermodynamics, which points to death and annihilation?
There are many forms of extinction you may not have heard of. For example super-volcanoes, the most destructive force on this planet. An eruption would destroy a vast area of land and trigger a nuclear winter. The whole of Yellowstone is a massive super volcano - and it is 40,000 years late in its cycle of eruptions. Scientists have been noticing some strange tectonic activity in the park…
The combined nuclear capacity of the US and USSR is more than enough to kill every human on this planet. Nuclear Holocaust is the stuff of nightmares but the Cuban Missile Crisis showed us how close we can come so easily. But there are little known incidents in which nuclear submarines have been shockingly close to launching, with no crisis elsewhere.
There is also the threat from bacteria and viruses. Bacteria are becoming immune to our antibiotics at a much faster rate than we are discovering new ones. Eventually we will have nothing left to fight them with. Terrorists and leaders of rogue states have long been trying to produce large quantities of tropical viruses, such as Ebola and Lassa Fever. New technology allows these viruses to be engineered to be more contagious, stronger and harder to kill. Their effect on the human body is already terrifying.
The Bible prophesises the end of the world in the Battle of Armageddon. Many scriptures in the Bible describe this event, and give clues to how and when it may happen. Several of them seem to point to a date of 2007 for the return of the Antichrist and the beginning of the Battle. They depict in detail how the Battle will be fought - it starts with an alliance of Arab nations invading Israel.
Millions could also die with rising sea levels. If the Antarctic ice sheet were to melt then sea levels around the world would rise by 55 meters, completely flooding hundreds of large cities such as Los Angeles, New York and Tokyo. Now there is a large amount of evidence that the ice sheet is thinning and global sea levels are starting to rise. With the predicted rise in global temperatures over the next century the rate of melting can only increase.
Aliens invasions are the stuff of science-fiction, but could soon become very real. Of all the trillions of other stars in the universe, surely we cannot be the only ones with life. There are numerous ways that aliens could break the light speed barrier; such as worm holes, folding space and 'hyper-space'. There are numerous reasons why an alien race might wish to invade Earth, such as needing new land or resources, or simply doing what we call 'ethnic cleansing'.
New experiments being carried out at a particle accelerator called the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) could have unthinkable consequences. There, and at other such places, scientists are attempting to recreate the big bang - the event that formed the universe. Some predict that they could cause a black hole which would consume the Earth, others that it could turn Earth into a planet of 'strange' matter, leaving it with no substance, and another possibility is that an explosion would be released from the lab with infinite energy.
The most famous example of an event that could cause Armageddon - possibly due to the movie - is a Near Earth Object (NEO). This term describes asteroids and comets passing close to Earth. There are millions of these capable of hitting the Earth with apocalyptic force. Impact would cause vast fireballs, huge earthquakes to ripple round the globe and towering dust clouds that would cause a nuclear winter.

Yes (you are paranoid), yes (the world is going to end soon), and yes (the world will last another 50 years and more). Things are definitely on the verge of being really different really soon, but I don't think it will be climate change that will do it.

The earth is always going to be going through changes.
It has it's cycles it goes through. I think we are going to all be living in a water-world soon if it does not stop warming so fast. All the glaciers are melting at a rapid rate. Kinda scary, huh?

good question. probably not from global warming but from how advanced our technology has increased. man is quite capable to destroy himself with advent of nanotechnology and germ warfare... however the most interesting thing to understand is the what the bible says about this...and it does say it will happen in a time frame and that no man will know the day...but that to all signs will be revealed (and even more so to true believers). Prominant Christian leader, Billy Graham, via LA times article, believes Christ will return very very soon and that we are living in the final few years right now. Virtually every bible prophecy has been fulfilled and come true. there is also quite an interesting article by 'Hal Lindsey' called 'America at War' (on web) about 'prophecy of St Malachy' in the 1400s who named all future popes from that time on...to the last... he predicts the next pope to be the last ever with a poss name of Peter the Roman... Most christian scholars believe last pope will deceive all mankind with evil...there is so much to make yourself aware of. Learn what the bible says. Educate yourself and meet Christ as your personal savior. This is all very real kid, it is happening, it is scary, and there is truth before of if we seek with our heart. If you find a church that does study this you will learn and not be deceived... such as a Calvary Chapel or other bible based non denominational church. "Seek and you will find", a promise of Jesus Christ. Christ also says, "I will leave you peace", which he does and the fear will not consume you. Trust Jesus as he does loves you and died on the cross for you- "I stand at the door and knock, if you open the door I will come in." ... a loving God that does not force us like robots to follow Him.. and promises if we decide to seek Him, we will find. He is very real...more real than anything else we willever experience in our life...

The world isn't going to end. There's only going to be a slight correction whereby we lose 1/3 of the population. It's all normal.
