I just let my baby do his thing, and then change the diaper after I'm sure he's done. Just try letting her work it out on her own, because she needs to learn how to do it. Is her poop really hard and pellet-like when it comes out? If it isn't she probably isn't constipated, she's just trying to figure out which muscles she needs to use to actually poop. If you always are involved she might come to the point where you NEED to be involved and that wouldn't be good.

if your baby's 8 mos old & constipated you can start helping her by giving her Gerber baby prune juice & then as far as changing her poop, my son used to do the same exact thing & I cant tell u how many diaper I went through! I personally would wait a little bit & let her poop more & also here's a grrrreat tip I recieved once that now saves my tail....if your baby has diaper rash, fill the tub like you're gonna give her a bath, but add to the bath 1-2 cups of baking soda & then after bath time's over let her air dry! Works like a miracle for diaper rash!!!

Make sure your baby is drinking plenty of water to help with the constipation. Also, you should call her doctor for advice on this issue.
