Usually, from my experience, when they do an ultrasound they measure the circumfrance of baby's head & torso & they have a chart that gives them the guidlines per the cm of the baby's size...so it should be pretty acurate but then again there is no such thing as perfect right?

I was told by my Dr and I also have read that the early ultrasound is the best prediction of due date. The reason is that all babies grow at the same rate in the beginning- they are the same cells multiplying and if a normal pregnancy, they are meeting the same milestones in utero. Therefore the date is pretty right on. Later ultrasounds show a baby who may be starting to put on fat, may be longer than average, just basically growing into a unique being.
I have had 3 babies. My due date was moved up at least a week EVERY time. With the first I had him 3 days PAST my ORIGINAL date, the 2nd was born the day before my original date. The 3rd was also 3 days past the original.

Usually the doctors measure the with of the babys head by the length of their body and other things. Usually they are about 90% correct. My doctor was able to tell how my my son weight just by feeling him and pokeing and prodding my tummy. She was right on the money at birth give or take a few ounces. If your baby is a good size so far and is danceing in your belly I wouldnt worry, in the last stretch is when they get their fat and they get it fast let me tell you. One day I was happy and very pregnant and the next I woke up and couldnt get out of bed he was so heavy, after that he just got heavier lol.
Some womens babys just are bigger naturally. My son was big. Boys naturally weigh more at birth than girls on average.
Good Luck don't stress it will all turn out great in the end!

do no longer project plenty; you're nonetheless 31 weeks alongside and the toddler constructive components maximum of its actual weight over the previous weeks of being pregnant. in case you stress and project, you will no longer do your toddler good! attempt to take a seat down back and revel in the final weeks of being pregnant; and in order that which you would be arranged, ultrasounds often degree the approximate weight and height of the fetus, so he/she could be a sprint smaller than estimated. yet i'm going to enable you to already know my adventure. At 32 weeks my toddler weighed, in accordance to the ultrasound, 4.3 pounds. 2 weeks later I further upfront and my toddler weighed 3.10 pounds. All he had grew to become into low bodyweight; compliment the Lord!! He grew to become into born completely great, and healthful; no respiration problems, no longer a unmarried component. he's now virtually 7 months old and thriving, so save an excellent suggestions and pray plenty for you and your toddler; you will get carry of your best blessing in some short weeks. Congratulations!

Well, let's put it this way. 3 days before I had my daughter, the doctors said she was about 9 pounds....when I had her she was only 8 lbs. As long as the doctor doesn't see any issues (with the baby being underwieght or too small) I wouldn't put too much concern on it. All you can hope for is a happy baby, and 4 pounds at 31 weeks is very healthy. Good luck, and don't worry. You'll blow up huge in the next few weeks! :)

My dr says that an ultra sound at that stage is accurate to + or - one pound. I had one at 32 weeks and they said each twin weighed about 5 pounds and 2 days later when they came out one was 4 lbs 6 oz and the other was 4 lbs 10 oz.
So it looks like he was right about give or take a pound.

The ultrasound you had sounds pretty close. You have 9 weeks left, more than likely the baby will weight-in around 7-8 pounds. My test was done at 18 weeks and already she weighted 4 pounds. I tended to have large babies.

So your saying that your not believeing that they baby is as big as the ultrasound tech is saying.. Believe it ... your baby is growing pretty quick now. Yeah I had to be in the hospital for 10 weeks .. preterm labor.. I had a ultrasound every day... Yeah .. they are reliable... Your baby has a lot of room in your body.. this is more true for the first baby. yeah I think this is a accurate thing.

I had my last one down at 32 weeks and just by what they said they seen on the screen and my doctor feeling my tummy she was very accurate! They said right around 7 1/2 to 8 lbs and when she came out she was 7lbs 13oz so yes that is your best bet to believe to be accurate!
