'Help me finding it' is an example of bad and lazy grammer.
'Help me to find' it is better sounding, gramatically correct way of phrasing it.
Ask your teacher to help you on 'tenses in grammer' as it is all about the context within which you make the statement. If it was something like'He helped me whilst I was in the process of finding it', it sounds better. Finding assumes that you hadn't at that point actually 'found' what you were looking for.

Its to do with the timing of the event and at what point you are saying it. Before, during or after.

Don't want to confuse you any more. Hope you find an answer that helps

Is this meant to be a request ? If so, the second version, i.e. "Help me finding it" is not very good English.
However, if used as part of a statement, then both forms can be used, e.g. "He helped me to find it" and "He helped me finding it." The only difference is that the first sentence focuses on the result, while the second focuses on the process of looking for the object.

Help me to find it - this means you want to find something now and you require someones help

Help me finding it - if someone said "could you help me finding it?" it probably signifies less urgency. "Finding" in the second sentence is also a gerund.

Help you to find it is searching for something undiscovered as yet by you. Help you in finding it is to help you find something which you have had but is lost x

If you lost it already then it probably wasn't much to begin with anyway.
