I've travelled all over the place and everywhere I've been, I've taken my now battered teddy bear. I even knitted him some trousers and a jacket to make him more presentable (and to stop his arm falling off!) Have any of you kept you childhood bear or a special toy?

I am 49 and my husband is 48. We both have our childhood teddy bears and they sit together on a chair in our bedroom. Luckily they were made by the same maunfacturer - Chad Valley - so they look fairly similar, and luckily again, his is larger than mine, so his sits with its protective arm round mine. Neither of us were very imaginative as children - his was called Teddy and mine was called Candy.

I have a very few other toys from my childhood. A small doll that I really loved given to me by my aunt, and small rag doll, made by my sister and who is really wonky, but was also very well loved, and a small stuffed cat with blue eyes, that i didnt particularly love, but managed to stay where other, more loved, toys, went!

I didn't have a favorite teddy bear, but I did have a cabbage patch doll. It now has two nearly severed arms, is almost bald, and has permanent stains from mud or dirt or something that are impossible to get out. It lost the shirt, so it now only has a pair of tattered overalls. And no shoes. Best doll ever, I brought it everywhere. It's been to Hawaii, Finland, Smoky Mountains, Rocky Mountains, and a dozen other family road trips. I'm 19, and I still have it.

Yeah - I've had him 28 years now since I was 4! He even came to my wedding as a surprise - my mum kidnapped him and put a bow on him to match my bridesmaids dresses, made my day! He's been in the washing machine so many times that he's practically bald now! My husband brought his childhood teddy into our relationship but I banned him from our bed! I knitted mine a West Brom scarf and my Nana knitted him some shorts!

No, I had 2, one was a giant panda that played Old Susanna when you turned a crank on his side and the other was a smaller brown bear that had bells in him that jingled when you shook him, I called him Jingle Bells (how creative, lol) They were stolen with most of my other childhood toys and dolls when I was around 12. But I still have 4 dolls from my childhood that are very special to me... Posie, Tiny Tears, Baby First Step and a little unmarked vinyl doll that I named Mary Dessie after my great-grandmother who gave her to me the day I was born. That was 50 years ago and I've replaced most of my stolen dolls since then...

and then some...

As a matter of fact, yes, lol. Isn't that strange? I'm almost 50 years old and I still have it, and my Larry The Lion that I operated on. I had a chicken, but I don't know what happened to it. The chicken was my favorite too.

My bear is pretty large and, wow, I guess he's almost 50 years old too. I wonder why we do that? Maybe I shouldn't be admitting to this, lol...

I think I'll have him buried with me when I go. (Oops, I'm getting cremated, so I suppose Teddy will be cremated too).

Yes.

I took my Gomachan everywhere with me.

He was a teddy of a seal given to me tha day I was born.

I'm 20 now, he's been to the hospital with me at least 6 times, he's been to a few pubs and clubs with me, and he's had a couple of sets of clothes made for him =D.

Sad, I know.. but he was also my best friend, and one of the only things that was ever a constant in my life, and that I could talk at when my parents used to abuse me =|

Yes I have 3 bears from when I was a child. One is pretty rough and the others are in ok shape. I am glad that I haven't got rid of them.
