Has anyone ever seen this before? He says he does it because he doesn't want to be disturbed and has no door to close. What do you think of this... is it rude, wise, etc., opinions please?

He also says the empty boxes are there in case he decides he suddenly wants to quit and that way there he will be prepared to gather his belongings!

Does this sound like it should have been in the movie "Office Space"?

I would say this is very strange behavior! has your boss noticed it? if not, bring it up. sounds like this guy needs a little mental help!

It sounds to me like this guy is trying to make a statement. It sounds like he hates his job. The thing is that if there is someone like that in an office....they "poison" the atmosphere and that person's coworkers are then affected. I personally think it's a bit childish and a boss\supervisor should pull him in an office and let him know that it should be stopped....NOW. What if everyone started doing childish things like that? You spend most of your life at work....the last thing you should do is make an enviroment that is hostile for you and everyone around you

No, never have I seen that before:...It's is kind of rude, but more irrational behaviour than anything... This guy is really in a "strange mind space" He has issues, I'd stay away from him.

Even though that's what he wants, stay away, he's sounds ready to "go postal"..

Sounds like a loner. Give him his space and ignore him as much as possible - he obviously doesn't want to interact.

From the sound of it, you shouldn't want to either!

haha. Yes it does. I'd say he is very childish and needs to rethink whether an office setting is for him.
