I use Windows Media Player to put Cd's into hard drive. If you have Windows xp you can find it with the search function on your start menu if its not conveniently visible elsewhere. Once its displayed, put you CD into the CD or DVD bay. A dialog box will appear. Highlight Copy CD with windows media player (into hard drive) and the play list will appear on a displayed page that appears. Click out the check marks beside the song you don't want to copy. You can play the songs by clicking Library on Windows Media Player and then double clicking on the first, or whichever song you want to hear. What I haven't told you will be evident as you go.

MediaMonkey is free; it will rip your cds, catalogue your music and burn compilations
