I remain convinced that it does not have an impact. Historically they have completely ignored the wishes of the majority (women's vote, desegregation, interracial marriage) and ruled per interpretation of the constitution. Part of the criteria for being a USSC judge is the ability to block out all the rhetoric and make rulings based on constitutional law. They've managed to do this pretty well so far, and I have faith it will continue. Of course if they make a ruling that the far right doesn't like they will be labeled activist judges lol, but that's neither here nor there.

The media can slant their reporting of the news to influence the population to promote their left wing agenda. Most of the "News" is 90% editorial and only 10% news. This allows them to brainwash the people that are incapable of independent thought.

The media has a greater influence on the selection of Supreme Court Justice during the hearing phase. Negative press on a potential justice can sway opinion. This allows the media power that it should not have.

Media should not have any influence on the Supreme court justices' decisions because their job is to rule according to the laws of the Constitution. The media is probably a thorn in their sides, when and if they don't make rulings that please the media's political persuasion.

Ideally, none and I think in most cases that's true. But these nine folks don't live in a vacuum and they read newspapers and watch the news so all that influences how we all think. The media is everywhere and there is no escaping it.
