Ladytee, this is really a good question and comment for those of us who do get annoyed when we see the holiday lights are up. It made me think as to why I get annoyed when I see lights up before the turkey has been set out to thaw. My co-worker has put up lights around his cube that connects to mine. At first I thought he was a little nutty, but you know, it actually put me in the mood for Christmas. :) I heard holiday music on the radio and got annoyed, though. I think it is because we are so accustomed to tradition that we don't want anyone to rush any particular holiday as we prepare for it "mentally." But you put it into perspective - "it's not your house." So, as I drive around, I am going to stop tripping about it because it really has nothing to do with my life.
I love that comment about the hands washing after the bathroom...I've noticed that some women don't wash their hands and that bugs me. I guess I shouldn't sweat that either since it's really none of my business. Live and let live, right. :)

I know...it drives me nuts when almost every other question has something to do with lights being up or stores being decorated or songs and tv shows about Christmas. Its getting to be that time of year so why shouldnt it be starting. Stores start early to avoid huge mobs of people a week before Christmas. And what I love most is that the people complaining now about all this Christmas stuff will be the people to complain when lines are too long and there are no good presents or decorations left or when they have everything to do right at the end. Happens every year. i go to the mall Christmas eve just to laugh at the people trying to do last minute shopping wjen all my gifts are wrapped and under the tree

I admit I get annoyed about this. I have some neighbors that are already in full swing. I think I get annoyed because Christmas has become so commercialistic. People who get ready for Christmas so early seem to be doing so because they are trying to propegate the "Christmas spirit" into their lives through consumption and commercial fetishism - they're buying stuff and hanging it on their house in an attempt to "get into the spirit of the holidays." Frankly I think that's a little sad.
Some of the happiest Christmases I've ever had have been without any decorations at all. When we were in college my wife and I spent one Christmas alone at home with nothing but a tiny plastic tree, a couple of new shirts that we'd bought each other, a little meal, and lots of love. Since that time, I've always kind of felt sorry for people who put so much effort into the holidays. Just keep your money, and spend the time you spent hanging that junk on your house with you spouse and kids.

When used as a cuss word, it is Damn. With an N.
I don't mind people putting them up early, you have to take advantage of nice weather. But it does wreck the mood when they light them up before Thanksgiving.
One holiday at a time and all that.
Now, the better question is why are you so angry? Geez. Mellow out and enjoy the season. Hard to do when you're an angry person.
But to you and yours Happy Holidays. No matter what holiday you're celebrating. Peace, Joy and Love.
Hey, if it floats your boat to have your home awashed in Christmas lights before ole Tom Turkey has even visited. Go for it.
Hey! Why are my hands sticking to this keyboard?????

We actually keep them up on the house all year round. Then When Thanksgiving or December 1st comes about we start putting the lights on.
