I take dance (hiphop) and I can follow the moves. Problem is my legs are long and I am rather thin (I am a very scrawny and gangly person) and they seem to get in the way. Any advise on how I can use them to my advantage and not be so awkward? Thanks! I am a begginer

It's not the length of your legs that is a problem. You are just starting out, this is why it's awkward. Every beginner feels that way, independent of the leg length. That's just how it is - legs are hard to manage. Be glad you were not born a centipede. LOL.

i know how you feel! i'm the same way. i've been dancing sense i was 5 (now 13) and i suggest not only doing hip hop, but also try ballet. ballet will help you with your form and you can learn control of your limbs. also, build up strength, not agility, but strenght. once again, ballet can help out. but if taking ballet is not possible do this:
lay on your back and slowly lift one leg after the other into the air (straight)/ this will help with strength
sit up straight or stand up, extend your arms out (they may seem a bit long if your body is like mine) and keep them out for a min. repeat.

good luck!

a couple of years in the past i had quite chunky legs considering that i used to be utilizing my thighs an excessive amount of and gripping them in the whole thing i did. then i started considering making my legs quite stretched and lengthy every time i danced. i understand it sounds corny however you'll be able to think the vigor coming from your ft whilst you do it effectively. its wholly converted my legs. however past that and stretching there isnt a lot you'll be able to do approximately your frame sort. desire it is helping!

it really doesnt matter your body type you can still be a good dancer. To make your appearence look better try loose sweat pants and a slightly fitted but loose T. I dance with tall skinny girls and im short and built, it really doesnt matter.

Lol. Don't worry about it. Just know how to control your legs. Make them move to the rythem, and just get into it!
