It promoted a welfare state where the government had more involvement in peoples lives.
Until that point, Britain was pretty liberal (we all just go about our business with little restraints placed on us) but once we realised that the laize faire (google it!) didnt work (as evident with the depression) the government realised it needed to introduce check and balances.

More importantly it launch welfare benefits and the NHS etc- so ALL people, no matter class race or religion, could have access to decent housing and healthcare.

The 50's onwards marked a massive change in British society... Read up on it, its interesting and a part of your history.

my understanding of the beveridge report is that it was in 1942, it revealed the 5 giants. want, idleness, disease, squalor and ignorance. these were supposedly overcome by the welfare state. eg NHS for disease etc
