He failed to teach his son the importance of values, therefore he accepts responsibility for his son's character flaws.

there are 2 sides to this statement. the dad could have failed because he didn't try at all or he tried and he failed. the former justifies your quotation, the latter places too much guilt where the father had nothing to do anymore. the father is the guide, the son makes the choice. there is no other way. the father can't live his son's life for him.

well this is true because a son takes as an example their father so whatever faults a father has the son is adopting them because usually the son is trying to be like his father!!!!

The father blames himself for the ways of his son.

If the parent tried hard with the raising of his child and this child decided to ill in life while knowing right from wrong.....then I ask why does any parent need to held responsible?

The fault should be with the child.

i think i saw that movie. it can be both true and untrue. my father is now nonexistent in my life. because of that i think i do have flaws and things i have trouble dealing with. but it has also helped me define myself for who i am.
