That link will get you to pen pal requests from all over, posted by people who actually know the guys and girls asking for pen pals as well as a forum where you can communicate with others who have inmate penpals....And to those who are considering becoming a pen pal- What a lovely thing to do..you'll make someone's day by writing! Be careful though, get a Post Office Box so you don't have to give out your home address to total strangers and don't give out personal information too soon...basically the same rules you follow on the internet to keep safe. And remember that just like on-line, people might not be up-front about who they really are... if it feels like someone is lying or being pushy about a "relationship" drop them.
When you first start writing, don't use any glitter or stickers because many facilities do not allow them.If you're under 18, you might not be allowed to write, some places only let minors write if they are family members(if that's the case writing to an inmate could get HIM in trouble, so don't do it)
I hope you make a few good friends!

You can call any prison or go to their websites. It's easier if you already know someone in prison because EVERYBODY wants a penpal. My ex-husband used to be in prison and i was a penpal for YEARS to many guys but honestly, once they all get out of prison, they FORGET they ever had anyone writing to them. It's just something for them to pass the time but if you're willing to do that and not get "hurt" in the end, than you're a good person and i wish you luck.

human beings are frequently in penal complex because they have performed some thing very incorrect, frequently they have performed lots of issues incorrect because it takes many infractions for them to wind up the position they are. only because you're over 18, does not mean that you've the sentiments and private barriers that could not fairly damaged through befriending such someone. they are frequently masters at manipulation and mendacity or maybe as your faith is admirable, i'd discover yet differently to make a large difference and depart this one for someone with a lot extra life journey. help the homeless, or a lady"s guard. those are those who would were incarcerated at one time, yet were screened professionally and judged to have some information of what they have performed and a thanks to conquer it. Too many youthful and impressionable females were sucked in through youthful male offenders who want a sugar mama or will romance a lady with quite some can provide about how "you've made me a replaced guy" Sorry, yet maximum persons are who they are and the chance to you and your protection is a better value than i'd wish you would settle for.

I used to to this with a guy in an American prison, after seeing a documentary on it. I went through:
www.uspcg.com
However, as per the answer above be warned once they are released they forget about you. So don't get hurt if you don't hear from them again. They treat it as some contact to keep them going to the release date.

That would be a Pen-pal alright. Don't even think about doing it. Those guys are master manipulators. You will end up getting hurt, either financially or physically.

That would be a very risky thing to do. Talk to the prison Chaplain

Why don't you try being pen pals with victims of crime instead.
