The extremists would take over, of course. Unfortunately, we're the ones who started this mess, so now we've got to clean it up.

Yes, yes, probably after it was over, not in any useful form.

And probably there would be lots of Iranian involvement.

Not pretty, but at this point there are no good answers.
What's best for the US is what should happen, I'm sorry to say, not what's best for Iraq.

We can't afford this - our great grandchildren will be paying the compound interest on this fiasco.

Partition may be the only option left: a sunni state, a shiite state & a kurdish state.

Really, who knows?

Yes
Yes
Probably
Maybe

Look at what happened in Somalia and Vietnam after we left But if the government does decide to pull out, it would be nice drop something on them that would leave nothing but glass behind, just for a going away present. Hell we could even use The Enola Gay again. After all it got the Japanese to quit didn't it.

It would be a disaster. A complete and utter disaster.

The government would slowly lose power until it just collapsed. The army would fracture into partisan groups. The fight between the Sunnis and Shiites would escalate, with Iran and Syria pumping in militants and weapons.

Millions would die, the terrorists would claim victory and boost their recruitment (as they did after every successful attack for the past 2 decades), terrorist violence across the Middle East would escalate, terrorist violence in Africa, Asia and Europe would escalate, home grown terrorists in the US may activate themselves, etc.

It would be nothing short of criminal negligence to enact such a disastrous policy.

All of the above, except for the currency, don't want to speculate on that. We created this horrifying mess, we have to clean it up. We can't pull out immediately. The Democrats know this as well as the Republicans. Gradual withdrawal is an option and one we need to pursue.

Dead Iraqis, who are all slimeballs just like Saddam. Ask yourself if you want to save this Arab rabble or do you want to save the lives of our GIs?

Let all Moslem countries commit self-genocide. Islam has no right to exist.

We're not going to pull out of there immediately.
If we did there would be all out civil war. It's too late, we can't just leave behind those we have befriended to be slaughtered.

Total anarchy. Followed by a brutal dictatorship, this time Shia.

The damn country would implode and a raging civil war would break out. Iran would move in. Bush has opened Pandora's box.

The insurgency that we've been staying to prevent is caused by our presence. If we leave there will be less impetus for it, and the Shiites and Sunnis can more easily come to some sort of modus vivendi.

We didn't create the mess in Iraq, but if we leave before we win,
there will be more American deaths on American soil, and many of Iraq's citizens will be murdered for wanting our help in the first place.
