I am comfortable being myself. Is that so wrong? I am not introverted, as I have lots of friends who I love spending time with on occassion. But my boyfriend is worried that I spend too much time by myself. During the week I don't see anyone for real because I'm work all day and can hang out all time of night with my friends and family, and on the weekends, I try to spend time with my boyfriend since that's the only time that we are usually both free. My friends know that I have always been comfortable by myself, but that I will be there at the drop of the hat if they need me, or if the whole gang is going to go out somewhere. But still...my question is, is it really healthy to prefer to be by yourself rather than around people? I'm not scared of people or shy...I just prefer not to be around them most of the time. And yes, I am an only child, so I grew up with a strong sense of knowning how to be alone and entertain myself.

It's great that your inner world is so rich that you never get bored being by yourself. But remember that human is still a social being and if you don't go out for a long time you can lose your brilliant skills in communicating with people! :)

I think more people should know how to enjoy time alone. Having equal joint custody of 2 children I sometimes appreciate a little down time (when they are with their mother).
But I think its normal and healthy to enjoy time by yourself, especially if that is what you prefer or are comfortable with.
Then you can go out and just enjoy the friends "once in a while".

i am also an only child and i enjoy my time alone. There is nothing wrong with that. I like it because i learn more about myself each day. I have Friends and hang out sometimes but it's nothing like being alone sometimes either.

Some people value their privacy more than others. Someone once told me that out of all the people that they knew, I'd make the best loner. I took that as a compliment and thanked that person.

i'm the same way, i don't think there's anything wrong with it.

i love the people in my life, but i am perfectly comfortable being on my own.

i think it's an advantage, not a handicap.

most people don't seem to be very comfortable with themselves, sucks to be them.

enjoy the ride............
