If the mom has Duel Residency in the US and Canada and is also of Native American decent; And the dad is African-American. What do you write in the birth certificate for race/nationality for the baby.

I am Irish and my hubby is Dominican. I HATE filling out that part of forms cause there is never anything that really fits, and honestly does it really matter? If there is a box marked other we pick that. Or sometimes they will let me pick more than one, so I pick Caucasian AND Hispanic. I hate to pick one over the other when I have to do that. If that's the case, I take turns lol.

I would definately say to ask the staff about that. There should be a box for Other. But as always, can't hurt to ask questions. Now-a-days they get alot of mix races. We will be doing this again so as well. (in about 4 weeks)

** Just pulled my youngest sons (5 yrs old) birth cert. (from California) and there is no mention of race what-so-ever on it. So I believe someone mentioned before that it IS listed on the Social Security. (If I remember correctly I believe there is a OTHER box)

Congradulations!!

the baby takes after the mother so I'm guessing Canadian if she was born in Canada, or American if she was born in USA, but it can't be native American since the father is African-American. If the child looks more African-American then do that, there are more opportunities for minorities as scholarships and stuff. Good luck.

If there is an "other" spot, check that. Some forms come with a "multi-racial" box too and that would work. For me, I am Korean, Irish, and French and I chose what I consider myself to be the most, which was Asian. You could also decide which one of those races that you have the most of, for example: I'm 50% Korean and 25% of Irish and French, so I would choose the Korean. Good luck to you!

Whatever the child is most of. It looks like 1/2 African American, so I think you need to go with that.

I didn't think that was on birth certificates? Just Social Security applications.

the baby is going to be half of whatever you are and half of what the father is so you put down what you are and what the father is and thats what the baby is i'm italian and my daughters father is puerto rican so thats makes my daughter half italian and half puerto rican and thats what it says on her birth certificate
