Each person is different, but many people take it once in their Junior year and again when they're Seniors. This lets them get an idea of how they'll do and what they need to work on, as well as how the SAT works in general.

She should take it at the end of her junior year. If she thinks she can get a better score, then she can take it again a couple of times during her senior year. The time to start preparing for this testing is... now. Buy her the SAT prep books now. She should spend a couple of hours each week on it.

She needs to take it soon. I took the ACT when I was a Jr. in high school. The sooner she takes it, the more chances she'll have to retake it for a better score and the sooner the scores are in, the more time she'll have to choose a college. Most colleges have deadlines for applications in the spring for fall admision. Check with the schools she's looking at to see when these deadlines are and make sure she takes the test with plenty of time before these deadlines.

She should be able to take a practice test (most high schools offer it), but she should take it as soon as possible. If she wants, she can take it twice, and send the better scores off to universities. Same goes for the ACT. I took both my junior year. Background, I did graduate from Miami University in '03. Not just telling you this on a whim.

She needs to have her results back in time to apply to colleges. It takes about one month for results.
Generally the earliest you can apply to college is summer before your senior year. This is for Early Admission/Early Decision deadlines.
Most people apply fall of their senior year. Your daughter would definitely need her scores by then.
If she may possibly want to take it a second time for a higher score, she also needs to take that into account.

I took mine at the end of my junior year. It was nice to not have to deal with it during the hectic senior year homework blitz. I don't think that people do any worse taking it a year earlier, but if they do happen to do badly, they can take it the next year to try to raise their score.

she should take it asap!! believe me !!! i just graduated from high school and the earlier you take it, the more chances you get to retake it if you don't do so well. i would also recommend her taking the ACT. Some people tend to think it is easier than taking he SAT. Overall, take the test that is required at the Universities she plans to attend!!!!!

As many times a possible. If she takes them 5 times, they will send the highest grades to the schools she applies to.
