I have two computers wire to a single router, which of course is wired to verizon dsl. How would I go about setting up the computers so I can view the files on the desktop from the laptop? Is there a program that will allow me to actually switch views so I take control of the desktop?

NOTE: Many people will tell you to use WINDOWS REMOTE DESKTOP... The important thing to know about WINDOWS REMOTE< is that on WINDOWS XP HOME edition, you can only allow someone to remotly connect to you if you are sitting at that computer and click ALLOW or CONNECT when someone is attempting to connect....

WINDOWS XP PROFFESSIONAL however allows you to do the same thing as WINDOWS XP HOME but PRO also lets you set up a remote connection on the pc you want to access, so that you may remotly connect as apposed to not being able to With home, unless you are sitting at it.

If you would like a free alternative to this, simply go to http://www.vnc.com
Download the VNC free edition.
Install it on all PCS you want access to and the computer you will be accessing from...

Run the VNC VEIWER on the computer you will be VEIWING FROM, and run the SERVER on the pc you want to LOOK AT from another computer...

Basically you can also read the documentation of how to use the program.

Its very easy

Run the server on the machine you want to see.
Run the Veiwer on the client machine you will be using to see other pcs...

You simply type in the IP address of the pc you want to veiw, and then click ok...

To find out what each machines IP address is, go to http://www.myipaddress.com on each pc.

Windows Remote Administrator will be your best bet. I use it at home when I need to connect to my computer at work. It works as if I am sitting at my desk. I also have it on my laptop and my own home computer. I can access my desktop using my laptop. It's great.
