When I was in college, I spent a semester interning for my Senator. As an intern, a big part of my job was opening and reading mail. While most of his mail was intelligible, there was a small but significant portion that was composed entirely of crazed, semi-coherent, train of though diatribes about the government; these were often written entirely in capital letters.
I'm not sure why I thought of that just now - something must have sparked my memory.

Look dear, the basic purpose it seems of the politicians is not the empowerment or upliftment at all!!! what they are interested in is actually vote bank politics. That the electorate will vote along caste lines and they'll win more votes from SC/ST?OBCs.
The amount of money, probably 12000 crore or something which is required to make up additional infrastructure for reservations in education; if this money is put into primary education, then no one will need reservations anyways.
Also, if after 59 years, if v are not able to provide upliftment of the SC/ST/OBCs by pursuing a policy, thn it's time to change the policy, not to extend it.
What can be done for genuine upliftment is to provide reservation along economic lines. This way people who genuinely need it will benefit. also, one household should be given reservation only once,. thus making it clear that if you're disadvantaged, we're giving u a chance to come up and join the mainstream, so use the opportunity wisely and work hard.
Also, ample scholarships should be provided so that people from these weak economic backgrounds can complete studies without economic obstacles.
Providing reservations, whether in educations or jobs, along caste lines, and to sub-standard merit, will not only be harmful for the education, but may also lead to social problems in the long run

IT'S all the vote bank politics, my friend. it doesn't matter how much you shout here. what really matters is how much votes you cast in the ballot box. just think of it that muslims constitute around 9% of indian population. still they get most out of all the government policies, why??? simple bcoz they cast their vote and those in general category don't. would you believe it that earlier the forms which were to be filled by the doctors to the admission to professional courses asked for ur caste as general/sc/st. but now they say sc/st/others. you can clerly see the difference that has been made. now the general category students are counted as others, that too in the admission to highest courses of medical colleges. so stop blabbing here and go to the nearest voting booth the next time and review all the proposals made by the candidate before you cast your vote bcoz u will have to ber him for next 5 years
