As the mother of three, I eould say the greatest gifts that you can give/teach your child(ren) would be unconditional love and acceptance and the ability to believe in themselves - that they can accomplish whatever they put their mind to. Faith also comes to mind, as does the ability to see God in others and to treat them accordingly.

The top contribution by any mother is giving birth to the child, and caring for them while they are growing into adulthood.
The great contribution by mom that shapes a child is to be a disciplinarian -- to make sure that the child understands that there are limits to behaviors, to have good morals, to understand kindness to fellow humans, and to know correct behavior from criminal behavior. The establishment of a consciousness in the child is the "gift" of a mother's consistency in the discipline and guidance of the child while they are growing up.

Teaching a child about love. Once a child knows how to give and recieve love, other good traits follow. Compassion, understanding, tolerance, patience, these are all born out of love.
Once a child can recieve and give love, they will learn about the other emotions related to it and be a better person.
Sounds a bit mushy, I know, but thats what i feel is the best contribution ive made to my daughters life.

The best contribution is to be able to develop a healthy and supporting (not possessive etc.) relationship with a child. If this is not achieved the child might have quite a miserable life because of one's parent.

attempt to obey the regulation (rushing is a touch bit a issue for me), pay taxes honestly, help those a lot less fortunate by donations of money and/or actual needs. not giving to charities the position the directors take all the money, or to church homes, which do an similar. Spiritually, by interpreting the Bible and sharing the solutions found there to those who ask.
