is it possible to take my old computer, and empty files i'd like to keep onto a disc or something before i completely empty it out and give it to someone else? i've done a backup type thing on a disc but i can't open it on my newer computer because it doesn't have the right file paths and so on and so forth. i have nero to do it, but if i need to download something else, that's fine. pleeeease, help.

use nero to burn a data disc. save all the files u want to a file in your documents and then open up nero and go to create a data disc. go to add files and go to your documents. open up the file and all the data will be on the disc. then click burn. it will work trust me

Nero Back It Up works great for this. Get some blank CD-R discs and go at it. But be advised that your files will still be on the HDD so I suggest you download a free program called Eraser from nonags and wipe the free space on your HDD before passing it on.

yes you can pull the old hard drive and disconnect the cd rom from your new one and transfer your files
