stockings or pantyhose? I've never worn stockings before and pantyhose only a few times. Which would be best for work all day?

Either will be appropriate, whatever you're more comfortable with.
Pantyhose are easier, quicker, and cost less. Stick with one that has Lycra in the leg so it doesn't sag or bunch at the ankle at the end of the day.
Stockings are fine, but they require a garter belt (unless you get stay-ups) so there's extra pieces involved, including the time and effort of clipping them on each time.
Thigh-highs or stay-ups are OK, but the band at the thigh that is supposed to keep them from falling down can sometimes feel like a tourniquet...especially after a few hours.

Don't be afraid to experiment a little, with brands, styles, colors, etc. in order to find your style and what you like. One important factor is that you get the appropriate size. Refer to the sizing chart and if in doubt or on the line between sizes, choose the larger. When they're too small, while you *can* squeeze into them, they're vastly more likely to run...and usually at the worst possible time. The right size also keeps you from feeling like a sausage in them. Most people who tell you how uncomfortable they are and how they squeeze or constrict get them too small to begin with.

If you have an average to slim build, I would say stockings all the way. Pantyhose are so bothersome to wear all day long with the waistband, and having to adjust them every time using the bathroom. I always wear stockings, just get them long enough so you don't have to worry about them showing. I have found most of the younger girls prefer stockings to pantyhose . I prefer the kind with a garter belt because they are lighter and more sheer , but many girls wear the hold up style of thi highs. The elastic top bothers me and shows through tighter and thinner skirts, so I prefer the garter kind that need a garter belt.

They have a good selection of all kinds and some pretty good ideas at stockingstore.com

I prefer stockings. Pantyhose are a pain to wear all day. I have been wearing stockings since I discovered them and they are way more practical and comfortable and look nicer too if you get the sheer kind. They have the kind that stay up by themselves, but I prefer the kind that use a garter belt because I don't like the elastic tops and the Lycra content in the stay up kind, but lots of girls in my office wear them. Usually only the older ladies bother with pantyhose.

I am still in school, and work in an office right after school and I sear stockings everyday. Pantyhose are too uncomfortable and its like wearing two pair of panties. I started with thi highs, but now I am into stockings with a garter belt, because they are so much more sheer and light. You don't even know you are wearing them and they make you look really sophisticated and hot.

Save money by wearing stockings. Two pairs of stockings can equal three pairs of pantyhose. The advantage of wearing stockings is if you snag your stockings, you just get rid of the one leg but with pantyhose you have to get rid of both legs. Just remember with stockings, you need a good quality garter belt to be comfortable the whole day.

Congratulations :)

Stockings and pantyhose are the same thing -- say stockings, pantyhose is passe. That said, the alternative to stockings are thigh-highs, tights and knee highs. Wear stockings with skirts that you need a full leg sheer, tights when you want a full leg opague, and knee highs with something that you want to wear with a skirt that this style fits.

Don't wear thigh-highs for work. These are for nights out to dinner, and other social things where you wanna look super-hella-fly. At work, or anything that will require walking/running/repeated movement, they'll losen from wear, and drop.

Uncomfortable and ugly when that happens.

Good luck ;)

Knee-length skirts or longer, first of all. You can wear sheer pantyhose, or you can wear tights...they are really in right now, and are much warmer on really cold days. Not sure about stockings, i think thats just another word for tights.

You SHOULD always wear one or the other, its not "ladylike" to have bare legs in the winter.

My opinion is, you should wear pantyhose. They're much better that stockings. Stockings just sort of fall off a little.

I'm partial to pantyhose. They keep my thighs from chafing. Besides, stockings are too much trouble to assemble on a daily basis.

Definitely pantyhose. It's more light weight.
