Mikao Usui's Reiki method spread widely. Correspondence courses over the Internet even offer distance training. To achieve a complete education in the "Usui method of Reiki Healing," three courses are necessary: the 1st degree course, the 2nd degree course, and the master course. The specific content of each of these courses varies widely from one teacher to another, depending on personal philosophies. A typical set of courses is something like the following:
First Degree Reiki courses teach the basic theories of how to work with Reiki energy. The channel through which Reiki energy passes to the practitioner is said to be widened through an initiation by the teacher, permitting the Reiki energy be strong enough to effect healing. Students learn hand placement positions on the recipient's body that are thought to be most conducive to the healing process.
In the Second Degree Reiki course, a symbol for mental healing is taught, enabling students to purportedly treat even deeply ingrained problems like fears, depression, addictions, and the like. Students are instructed on how to direct Reiki energy to a certain point in time, to a specific person or place, or a specific issue. The issue can be something like an individual's particular health problem, or it can be a more abstract or general issue such as world peace. Practitioners say that this is possible using three symbols taught at the second initiation. The claim is that this skill allows the Reiki channel to be opened even wider.
As part of the master course, usually the Third Degree, students become a Reiki "master" through the third initiation; they learn how to initiate students and have the option of teaching Reiki courses themselves. The student learns a further "master" level symbol in this course as well as the method of attuning others. In some cases the third level is broken into smaller stages of attunements from the teacher; the attunements for the first, second, and third level may also be administered in stages. A teacher has completed practical training when told that he or she has the ability to attune others to all degrees and has been given the final fourth Reiki Master symbol that is used in attunements.

Sign yourself up for the intial Reiki course. Once established with that you can study and become attuned for level 2 and then after a time go for level 3 and attunement to become a Reiki master. It takes time to learn and you can read lots if you google Reiki. Alternatively the health magazines carry ads for Reiki courses. Depending on where you are - prices vary from £100 to £300 for a weekend course and attunement. The attunements can sometimes make you feel very tired for while after but Reiki is an amazing gift to learn. I would avoid the Internet (as in Ebay) offers unless you know a Reiki teacher who can assist you. Reiki is not to be taken lightly and can harm others and you yurself if not done correctly. Good luck x

There's loads of places you can go on courses, some are run by colleges, some are run by the people that do the treatments. The most widespread seems to be the Usui form.
If you haven't already, it's often recommended to have a Reiki treatment before you go on a course to do it, I guess so you experience from the receiving side before learning to give it.
Sign up for a level one course, that will introduce you to Reiki and teach you how to perform small treatments on yourself and others and it will attune you to the Reiki energy. Once you're comfortable and confident then you can go on the next level course etc...
The easiest way to find courses in your area is to do a Google search for places in your area that offer the treatment. Often the websites of those places will give details of courses that they offer.
The other option is to just do a simple search for reiki courses in your area, this will bring up both the places that do the treatments and also any colleges etc... that run courses.
Make sure the course you go on is accredited by a national body, they will be able to cover you for insurance purposes when you become a practitioner. Also a lot of places will not allow you to set up a practice or join one unless your qualifications are accredited by a recognised body.
Good luck!

there are as lot of misinformed answers on this question . the problem is finding the right person -that is why u should sincerely pray for the universe to reveal to you the right person to do this .there are quite a few fraudulent people about . find a good teacher --what to look for mmn well why not get them to demonstrate and to give u reiki healing ----you should easily feel this energy , that will give u some measure of their self acting as a channel.....and that is what we are channels for this energy ... forget totaly the word master ---replace with servant .... for that is what you do serve humbly meekly ----not for ego .... be sincere and u will find the right person Reiki, Millions of people are aware of this fantastic healing energy and there are literally thousands of healers [channels for this energy]. The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy." A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the person including body, emotions, mind and spirit and creates many beneficial effects including relaxation and feelings of peace, security and well being. Many have reported miraculous results. Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that a lot of people can use. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and malady and can create a very beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques sometimes to relieve side effects and promote recovery. An amazingly simple technique to learn, the ability to use Reiki is not taught in the usual sense, but is transferred to the student during a Reiki class. This ability is passed on during an "attunement" given by a Reiki master and allows the student to tap into an unlimited supply of "life force energy" to improve one's health and enhance the quality of life.

You find someone you like and are compatible with who teaches a form of Reiki you are interested in. There's no formal "school"--classes are held in people's houses or the back rooms of stores.
To find a Reiki Master, look in your local new age magazine, available at health-food stores, new age stores, herb shops, etc. Also ask the people who work there and look on the bulletin boards. There are literally hundreds of thousands of teachers out there. One of them is right for you.

You need to go to school for this. If you do a web search for Reiki schools lots of links come up where you can look for a school that suites your needs.
