the ones on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno that Jay grabs off the street, cannot even identify a picture of the V.P. of US? I think the skit is called Jay Walking or something, but does it worry anyone that these people vote? Of Course I think most would vote for Democrats but I'm sure others believe they would vote Rep. Either way it is a scary thought that most people cannot even tell you who the V.P. is.

I have no doubt they are planted, but I have asked friends, students at a University, adults, and it never ceases to amaze me at how many people really don't know that much about what is going on. All most can do is spout off a few talking points they heard on Air America or Rush.

People should know at least as much about who runs our country as they do about the contestants in Dancing with the Stars, the plotlines of their favorite soap operas, or the current college football rankings.
They don't.
It's disgusting.
People have opinions on Iraq, but many couldn't even find it on a map.
God help us.

What's really tragic is that most of those people could easily identify Britney Spears' baby, and would know all the details about Christie Brinkley's divorce. They'd be able to pick out their favorite NASCAR driver from a photo gallery of a hundred. They could probably recite the batting averages of every Major League player, and probably have an opinion about how O.J. murdered his ex-wife. They can name that tune from Mariah Carey's latest album, and tell you how much money was won on "Deal or No Deal" last night.
But they don't have a clue about the people they help elect to lead this nation. -RKO-

I think even worse than not knowing is the fact that they don't CARE to know. They just don't consider it important or relevant to their lives.
Often these are the same people who, despite being really uninformed, complain and criticize the most.
(Also don't be too surprised if someone of these people Jay encounters were not -- ahem -- planted there for the show.)

It's quite sad. The legal immigrants know more about the country and it's history than the natural born citizens do.
I like to believe that it was harder for them to find those few idiots than it was to get correct answers. Of course, correct answers aren't funny, so they aren't shown.

Polls have shown for over 40 years, many Democrat Voters know nothing about politics, or current events.
They do good to know what state they live in.

You need to remember that this is entertainment. It is not a scientific polling of the general population of the US. You are not show the people who can identity the VP because that would not be funny.

it doesn't matter who the vice President may be at the time of asking. Only that we have one in the closet, and that is where Cheney hides with one of the pages.
