Im 34+2 Doc says baby should be able to make it to 36 weeks as long as I stay off my feet. Will 36 weeks be ok for the baby? What if I go at 35? I want him to be healthy and come home with me from the hospital. He is already (weight and hight) meauring 2 weeks ahead of schedual. Do you think he will be ok? A friend had a baby at 33+6 and he came home after 2 days and a cousin had her baby at 33 weeks and after 3 day watch for jaundice he came home.? My baby should be just fine around 35-36 weeks right? (I will try hard to keep him there till atleast 37 but if I can't does anyone have an encouraging words?)

At 36 weeks the baby should be perfectly fine. My son was born at 35.5 weeks and came home with me. He did spend 24 hrs in the nursery just so he could be observed he too measured 2 weeks ahead on ultrasound. I have an incomplete and dynamic cervix had a cerclage placed at 14 weeks placed on bedrest at 26 weeks and released from bedrest and had my cerclage removed at 35 weeks 4 days. Most drs will let nature take its course at 36 weeks because the babies are ready. With my son due to my history (had his sister 13yrs ago at just shy of 24 weeks gestation) we knew he'd come early and as a precaution I had steriod injections to speed up the development of his lungs and vital organs. But like I said at 36 weeks babies are ready. My son was born about a month early and thanks to measuring big was a premature infant weighing in at 7 pounds!

However on the down side and I dont mean to scare you. My best friend had my god son at the same gestational age my son was born and he had to stay in the hospital for about 3 weeks required O2 for short term but did NOT require vent support, he also had to learn to eat all his bottles orally so he had an NG tube placed. Some babies born prior to 36 weeks have not perfected the suck swallow reflex

Anything after 32 wks is considered viable, meaning there's
a good chance that the baby will survive. Of course, the longer you're pregnant, the better (until 40 wks). The lungs will be more developed and ther will be less chance that the baby will have to stay in the hospital for a while. I'm sure size is important, but lung development is more crucial. Generally 35, 36 wks will survive, but may require a longer hospital stay. Listen to your Dr, it sounds like everything will be ok. Good luck and congrats!

36 is considered full term, not early. 35 wouldnt make that big of a difrerence, if he is developing as he ought to, which it sounds as though he is.

My friend had her baby 3 1/2 weeks early, and he came home the next day.

There is certainly little risk to the long term health of your baby, although he might require some incubator time, but that cant be decided until he is born.

You've only got a weeka nd a half to wait. You can make it.

I went into labor on my own at 31 weeks and it was stopped. then 2 weeks later i went to 5 cm and they didnt stop it, but i walked around like that for until i was almost 36 weeks pregnant. My dr did an amino to check his lungs and when they seen things were ok they let me have him. When I had my son so did like 15 other people. He was the only preemie and was 10lbs. I really think they were wrong on my due date. I'm sure your baby will be fine. Even one extra day of carrying him can make a difference. Good luck and God bless

you are going to be fine honey...as will your baby. If he's measuring ahead of schedule I don't think he's gonna have any problem at all. Just listen to your dr, get in bed, get your hubby to buy you some magazines and rent you movies so that you don't get bored. I was watching Maternity Ward last night on Discovey Home & Health and this lady had a baby at 35 weeks, and he was so beautiful, he didin't have any trouble breathing or anything. She went back home the next day with her baby. So cheer up!

You'll probably be fine. Stay off your feet and relax. Try to get a couple more weeks in there. That's best for the baby. I'm sure if you went early that the baby would still be ok though. Congrats.

Listen to your doctor. He or she knows what is best for you. Also, I really don't think that you have control over "keeping him there till at least 37 weeks" but if you can, all the power to you.
