You work as a railway drawbridge operator. You are closing the bridge for the express train that's about to arrive when you see your son trapped in the machinery. To close the bridge will kill your son, but save the train. To open the bridge will save your son, but the train will not be able to stop in time. What would you do?

I think we would all like to think that we would close the bridge and save the train because that is what we were hired to do - but who, in reality, could knowingly kill their own child. I believe this is one of those questions that cannot be answered truthfully, unless it was actually happening, even then we would not react until the last possible minute. I think I would save my child.

Open the bridge and call the train operator before he arrives. Everyone safe.
