If your anemic it means you don't have enough red blood cells. Anemia can be common, especially for women that are menstrating once a month, or serious. I was anemic when I was a kid, but I out gew it with proper nutrition and vitamins.
You need to eat foods rich in iron or take an iron supplement. Maybe your doctor gave you a prescription.
Here are some other resources for you.

generally if they don't specify, it either means that your red blood cell count is too low (from loss of blood), or that you're severely iron deficient.
For me, it's severe iron deficiency. Has your doctor made any recommendations? If not, please switch to someone else. They should have explained it more to you, and recommended the right course of action.
Self-medicating with iron supplements can be dangerous if that's not what your body needs, so please call your doctor and ask what type of anemia you have (there are several types), and what to do about it, and how it can affect you.
Good luck, girlie.
If your doctor does get you on iron supplements, here's a pointer. Iron can cause constipation. Pretty common. Prune juice is a laxative and also has some iron in it, so I take that (full 8oz glass) at bedtime and I stay comfortably regular, without cramping or anything.

Anemia is lower than normal number of red blood cells or lower than normal levels of hemoglobin. Anemic animals are usually weak and have pale mucous membranes (gums, conjunctiva, etc.) Anemia is not a disease. It is a condition that results from below-normal levels of hemoglobin in the red blood cells. Hemoglobin is the iron-containing pigment of the red blood cells that carries oxygen from the lungs to the tissues.
There are many different kinds of anemia, each with its own cause. For example, a poor diet can cause anemia. The more severe types of this condition are often inherited.

It means your body is low on iron. It might mean you are feeling more tired and don't have as much energy as you could. Try taking a product called Feo-Sol or another Iron supplement you can get over the counter. Or ask your doctor what he recommends in order for you to feel your best.
